I was under the impression that the cr2 batteries were too large to physically fit in the 905 body. Did you have to mod the unit at all? I wonder if the non-rechargeables are that much smaller than the rechargeable cr2s if that's not the case.
Yes.....the inside had to be bored out in order to fit the cr2 batteries.

I'm a little concerned.

My stock, week old, 905-V2 has twice either stayed on after I took my finger off the button or fired up by itself.

There's something in the manual (in Chinengrish) about it blinking many times and going into a cleaning burn every so often. Mine didn't light up. I only knew about it being on because the atty got quite hot. The last time it was hot enough to melt the lip of the 801 cart I was using.

Has anyone else had similar experience with these?

Mine did the same thing on the first day. I believe it's the cleaning cycle. I didn't get any melting (maybe because I detected the heat and quickly unscrewed the atty. The cycle completed about an hour later. It did discolor the cart. But there doesn't seem to be any burnt taste. It's set to clean every 1000 puffs. I'm still waiting on the next cycle.

An hour? Yikes. I believe that a cleaning cycle should last 20 seconds, but I've never let mine go anywhere near that long. I shut it off before putting it down. If it goes into a cleaning cycle when its in my hand I just shut it down immediately.

That pic that Nikko posted is telling. It does get extremely hot.

What is the bore size ?? I need to check my drills to see if I have the right one

After measuring a CR2 battery it will be 9/16" or 5/8" it kinda falls in the middle, I am going to try a 9/16 to start with. If you reach your pinky finger inside you will feel the sides fall away, so you only have to bore down 3/8", so not very far. Should be a piece of cake to mod.
Hope this helps
Dan

That pic was the result of my inattention at 3.7V... 8-o

Since then I got a replacement top (the piece with the button and where the atomizer screws on) and it has NOT happened again, so apparently that problem has been fixed!

Just waiting for some rechargeable CR2 batteries now....

Well I have a V2 top and it will still cook down. Keep a real close eye on it.

The unit that melted the cart in my pic was a V2...
The new one is a revised V2....
I've actually been using it quite a bit since getting it last week and it has yet to happen once ;)
The other one did that cooking thing just about every single day
