The short answer: no, they are definitely not made from flashlights, at least anymore. The 905 is purpose-built, from the get-go; The SD was originally a modded flashlight, but that changed as soon as it went into mass-production.

I have heard of many people using the SD at 6v also, and as it is a mechanical device and has no circuitry I would wager that it is simpler to mod, if modding is even necessary...I would check the modders' forum or search for "6v screwdriver".

From flashlights, no. Just the bodies from the same factory that makes them, with the same equipment, specs and materials.

I think you misunderstood the first question, and in turn misunderstood my answer: The fact that they're made in the same factory is not he central issue, it's that they are not taking a flashlight, pulling it apart and re-making it into a mod. I could give a xxxx how similar they are...electronics and all...they are not flashlights anymore.

I don't know if anyone else has attempted to do this other than myself, but I just bored out my dse905 to fit the wider RCR123 3.0V batteries. Instead of having 1 3.7V battery my dse905 is not fitted with 2 3.0V batteries, which of course means that I am now vaping my dse905 at 6 volts. This is really cool, it might have been obvious to most people but I just thought of it today. I went to my grandpas drill press and bored out the body for the wider 3.0 volt batteries. I'm still experimenting a little bit here but so far I'm loving it. I got spoiled by the higher voltage of my passthrough and I am currently waiting to buy a GG, so in the mean time i'm vapin 6 volts on my 905 haha. Just seeing what you guys think or if anybody has done this that you know about.

How is your 6v mod holding up after a couple of weeks?

Well guys I made a mistake in my description. CR123's i don't think will fit. the batts are actually CR2's. My mistake the CR123's are too big but the CR2's should fit fine. you can check out all-battery.com or for the lowest price ebay would probably be good. My 905 seems fine after all this time.

The only thing I want to make a strong note of is that when vaping above 3.7 volts, one of the most important things is your liquid. I noticed that some of the liquid I got from healthcabin.net tastes very good at 3.7-5v but at 6v it tastes less pleasant and tends to make a burnt (faintly burnt) taste. My solution to this is to buy premium e-liquid. It doesn't have to be HV liquid, the liquid i use for 6 volts is Liberty Liquid from mypvshop.com. I have purchased several flavors of 24mg of Liberty Liquid that seems to taste great in all realms. I have never tried HV liquid but I know that as long as you use high quality premium liquid, keep your cart full, and maybe even drip the atty sometimes, you should be fine. Dripping gives me a little more flavor but it eats thru liquid pretty fast.

It seems to be fine, but I would be careful because if your 905 comes on by itself at 6v then its gonna get hot. Thats why I always unscrew the atty a turn or 2 to guard it in case it turns on by itself. I'm having a replacement body sent to me that is supposed to be fixed so hopefully it won't be a problem then.

In other good news I can't wait to get my chuck! It's only a matter of time because I ordered it like a week or so ago and I know it should be here soon. I wanted a GG but I'm afraid the price might have been more than I wanted to spend. I really just need something to give me 6v vaping besides the 905 mod. Hopefully I can rig something up to keep me from turning on the Chuck switch by accident haha i'll think of something

Why dont you just stick with the 905 at 6volts instead of spending the cash on a chuck save the lootb unless there is something your not telling us lol

Ha to tell you the truth, i bought rechargeable CR123's and I already have them. The ones I've been using for the 905 arent rechargeable. So i'm just gonna get a chuck for how sturdy it is and for the better battery options. I'll still have my 905 if I need it, and it does work really good with the right liquid. As a matter of fact I had them send me a new one because the one i have now turn itself on. I guess I bought the chuck before I realized the GG was going on sale in the U.S. this monday. I kinda wish I would have waited for the GG but it doesn't matter by the time I'm done I'll probably have all the mods on the market knowing myself

Why don't you just mod the 905 a bit more. Just rip out all the electronics and install a mechanical switch.

i'm still not sure how to do that? besides I already ordered it. i would like to know how to do that if you could explain or point me in the right direction to learn. Obviously I know how rip out the internals, but i'm not quite sure how a mechanical switch would work. doesn't it have to have contact points or something?
