alright so i did first dual coil on my igo-l using a 2mm silica wick with 28g wire with 4 loops at .4 ohms after firing it up once, is it normal for the mod/battery to get hot? i'm using a 18650 aw battery. any thoughts?

Check to make sure your coil is not touching any metal on your igo, also, make sure your battery is in good working order and charged up. Don't know what kind of mod your using, if it's mechanical it should handle .4 ohms ok. I like to run coils on my mechs at around 08 - 09. Sometimes i'll wrap a 1.2 for a little change of pace. Good luck, be safe!
One more thing, make sure your wire is snug on your silica, not too tight, you don't want to impede the flow of juice but you want the coils making good contact with the wick.
That is a really low resistance and a lot of current. Your battery getting hot can be either:
- Via heat transfer from the atty itself.
- The button or some spring etc. in the mod heating up and passing it onto the batter
- Battery itself is heating up.
This is in increasing order of trouble.
In either case, I would suggest going towards the 1ohm range.

Yeah, according to the chart, you are drawing 10 Amps @ 4 volts (4.2 +/- device voltage loss etc.) So, you are "field testing" your battery! 
Will it handle it's max discharge rating as per manufacturer's specs (10 amps)? . . . . . . . . . . . Guess we'll (you'll) find out.

1" of uncoiled 28 is 0.45
On a single coil, I use about 2" of 28 (about 5-6 wraps on doubled 3mm silica) and then trim the tails, comes out to 0.8
But that's a single coil
A dual Coil setup like that would be 0.4
(multiplying the coils, divides the resistance... more coils = less resistance)
If you're using 0.4 per coil, your total resistance on a dual coil would be 0.2
0.2 would be drawing drawing around 20 amps on a fresh battery and producing about 80 watts... That would absolutely heat up a mod/battery, even just by conduction... but also from exceeding the discharge rating.

but anyway guys im kinda on the same boat as OP. i currently have an igo-l dual coil set up with 2mm silica wick, 28g kanthal with 3 loops and im currently using my k100. i tested it on my atomizer ohms checker and i'm getting 0.3 ohms. is that too low? should i add more loops? or try a different gauge kanthal? my battery doesn't get that hot but my igo-l gets pretty hot and i can do about 5 chain vapes but then the vapes gets too hot as well. thanks for any feedback

Make sure your batteries can handle that amp draw, look for the constant amp limit and the burst limit of your batteries.
Some batteries will be rated for 10 amp constant and 18 amp burst for 10 seconds. This is just an example use an ohm calculator to verify your numbers once you find out your battery specs. Don't exceed your burst limits, this is the most your battery can discharge at the given time frame without damage. The faster you charge and discharge your batteries the faster you have to replace them. Most will tell you to stay in the constant amp ratings for safety and battery longevity.
You don't want your batteries to heat up or be the cause for the mod to heat up, this means your damaging them and could be dealing with immediate or future problems.
