Morning all - Had a few quick questions regarding Dual Coil builds.. First, does it matter if the coils make contact (can they touch without issue)?

Secondly, is there any benefits making the dual coil from one single strand of Kanthal. Basically linked from a single Kanthal strip? Or, is it better to do two separate coils? Maybe Pros and Cons for each, let me know please.

Using 28 AWG A1 Kanthal and Japanese Cotton for wick - My VV/VW devices are Cloudpor DNA30 (love this box) and iPV2 50 Watt Box (still using but so far so great !!!) So I think I got the power to try a DC build.

I'm not sure what you mean by touch? Why would they? (Except the legs, of course.) My guess that coil touching anything except air is bad.

Regarding your second question. You're talking about what I believe is called "sleeper" coil. I did this a couple of times to ease my Fogger pain when I just got it. I make the loop around one leg (no post holes on Fogger) and then wrap coils right on the deck. I don't think this useful with better leg posts. But I don't know what RDA you're building on. Performance wise? No clue; for me just a convenience. Disadvantage is the coils are not very neat.

Have fun.

With Kanthal wire, once the aluminum oxide (alumina) layer forms - which is electrically insulative and thermally conductive - after a few dry burns, the wire can not only touch from wrap to wrap... but from coil to coil.

With certain atomizers, it's actually easier to make a pair of coils from a single, "center looped" strand of wire.

It's just a matter of having adequate wattage/amperage output for the desired resistance... basic Ohm's law calculations.

Familiar with the weapon, not with coil build. Out of curiosity, why? Are you trying to fit two coils into a device designed for one? No snark, just genuinely curious.

Yeah on my Kayfun or Russian 2.0 - BTW the new Russian is very nice, not sure why but its damn nice. Looking to try something new but not destroy my devices in the process
