I like to get the most out of my coils, after a week or two carbon builds up on the coil, I scrape the carbon off using a sharp dental tool, scrub with a toothbrush, rinse under hot water.

Now it seems dual coil is becoming very popular, superseding single coil versions of the same carto. Single coil carto's are slowly disappearing off the market.

Is dual coil a good thing?
Not really in my opinion. Not much more vapor production (actual I think a good single coil will out-perform the average dual coil).

The biggest concern, with the 2nd coil tucked away under the 1st coil, the 2nd coil is not accessible, carbon builds up on the 2nd coild, no way of scraping the carbon off, dry burning doesn't seem to work well on dual coil carto's. Carto is unusable...must be replaced.

I'm not cheap, I dont mind if I need to buy a new coil every 2 weeks if the quality was consistent. But this is not the case. A new coil can perform terrible compared to a used coil. I get maybe one good coil out of 5 ... no matter what brand.
Once I find a good coil I like to stick with it for a month or two so I'd like to preserve a good coil as long as possible.

Is it just me or are dual coil carto's a bad choice?

iClear30s is one of them, a few other dual coil carto's have the same problem.

I suppose it depends on the design but the 4 or 5 dual carto's I've seen have the 2nd coil tucked away below the 1st coil. Dry burning helps a bit, but to properly clean them they need to be scraped physically, tough thing to do if the 2nd coil is sealed away and inaccessible.

I can't abide dual-coil ANYTHING. They're much too hot, they burn my juice till I don't even recognize the flavor; they're just awful. Same for top-coils, can't abide them either; they almost burn my lips! This dual-coil madness is the main reason I had to get into kayfuns, all the newfangled clearos seem to be coming as dual-coils, and they're just UGGH. I don't even buy dual-coil cartos for my Smok UDCT -- I buy only single-coil cartos.

Single coils also conserve battery life FAR better than any dual.

That's why God invented variable wattage. ;)

I like single coils because they're so easy to build. Dual coils are becoming the standard though, so it looks like the singles will be phased out soon.

I chain vape, so silica doesn't work for me and I have to use cotton or rayon wicks, therefore I have no choice but to rebuild. I'm glad I'm not missing much with dual coils right now. I wouldn't want to be hanging on to my Pentium 4 processor when they have quad and octacore ones now.

You're gonna make me cry. I've been hanging in with P4's since 2006... but they finally obsoleted XP Pro, so next year I gotta buy a new one. Laptop this time; I'm tired of being chained to a desk!

I don't really care much what they put in clearos, now that I have several rebuildables. When I got my first KFL+ and took the first hit, my T3S's went into a drawer and haven't seen the light of day since. Still like my cartos, but I hunt around and find good deals on the single-coil variety, both punched and non.
