And here I am still trying to seat one properly! (albeit vertically) My problem with all these trickier build is if something is a tad off I just put up with it because I don't want to rebuild.... again.

So for the 2 or 3 coil design, do you end up with 4 or 6 leads running through the grommet/pin assembly? That sounds tricky to do, if the positive leads are touching each other, is this ok? or negative for that matter. What are the spacing requirements if any?
2 coils you will have a total of 4 wires and 3 coils a total of 6. Yes all positive wires can touch, same with negative. I like to space the coils just barely at first until the wire oxidizes. Then they can touch without a problem but there is enough space that you can position them without touching.

To be honest with you all, I've been rebuilding PTs for a while, and it really isn't too hard, but 2 coils in a PT head is really pushing it, and for most, you're gonna end up in trouble with shorting. Getting this right is more luck then skill, so I don't recommend it, but do as you desire.

I know this isn't as tasty, but I've been unraveling ekowool to get really small fibers of silica and wicking my protank nano's with it. Hook 4-5 strands through. Cotton on top for flavor. Best of both worlds, but I have not built a dual coil yet. I will attemp this later on tonight and post results.

Very nice. I just built a vertical coil for my protank last night. Gonna get this a shot next.
I only have 28g kanthal. How many wraps should I use to get 1.4-1.2 ohm range with the dual coil setup?

Here's a pic of my vertical coil. 28g kanthal 11 wraps on a 1/8 drill bit. came out to 1.4 ohm. wrapped the coil with cotton. Awesome flavor and vapor.

Finally found this thread again. I did that dual coil/silica fiber/cotton flavor wick and I love it to pieces. It took a whole day to break in the silica fibers but after that I get the heat resistance from the silica keeping the coils a little cooler in the middle and I built it on 12/28 and I haven't needed to change the cotton yet! Worth a shot guys.

I also tried a few vertical coils and I have an awesome one in now. Much more airflow and flavor. Once I installed the coil, I cut a strip of 450 mesh and rolled it on a pen. Then that went up to meet the stem cap around the outer edge of the chamber and have a bunch of cotton packed inside it. If you look at where the wicks normally come out, you see ss mesh inside. I find that this helps it wick around the cotton more evenly.
