Dumb Newbie question re:Signature

I have been so wanting to add one of those little "I quit on...saved so much$" banners and now I think I have enough posts!
Except, *sigh*, I can't find where to add my signature...
Looked under profile edit, customizing, ect.
Help,

Under "User CP", on the left hand side a ways down you should see "Edit Signature"

I had to refresh the page twice before that option showed up. Of course, now I'll click your banner...

Just copy and paste the code into the signature box, then preview it.

I must not be doing something right with my banner, it doesn't update when I write a new post.

I took off the begining brackets to show the text, othewrwise the banner comes up. Tthe part I used for my signature banner is

why doesn't it update?
