I know there are risks involved with something like this, but we all take risks getting into our cars everyday. I have read several things and watched several videos on the subject. I just didn't know what ohm coil head I should use for something like this. At least I'm not the guy using a power supply out of a pc to run his mod

you should be able to find some passtru examples in the modding forum.
i use a ac/dc adapter at home myself.
i have adapters that give me 3 to 12 volts in steps of 1.5volts; but so far i've mostly been using them set at 7.5 volts as input to a vamo. (used to use it on my zmax, but that's .... under repair at the moment.)

your power supply will probably get hot & fail quickly
That's what I'm worried about. That phone charger is made with 30 or 32G Stranded wire. Each piece of wire inside the stranded wire is no bigger than a piece of human hair. Smaller even. If you want to try it, find a better power source than a phone charger.

After all the opinions I think I may just scrap this idea. Think I will find me a 4 volt power supply of some sorts. Any suggestions on what to use?

Yeah, try a proper VV/VW ecig mod.

Or is there some particular reason why you would rather risk your life trying to do something you clearly don't understand well enough to do safely rather than using the very simply and easily accessible device that is custom made to do precisely what you're wanting and comes complete with a truck load of safety features built in?

I mean, you do understand that a .1A current through your body is going to kill you, right?

Electrical Safety: The Fatal Current

My advice.... use a proper ecig mod or make you're funeral arrangements now. Just from reading this thread it's obvious that you're WAY over your head here.

First of all I don't appreciate being talked to like an idiot. Secondly I understand the concept of using proper equipment etc. However not everybody can or wants to throw down hundreds of dollars on equipment. Third, I don't think there is anything wrong with being curious about some diy when it comes to equipment.

From one idiot to another... :D You have a pic of a pretty lady and a baby there. It's really not worth it. One never knows which shock will stop your heart...

I was a chemical operator for 23 years, 10 months and 10 daze. We did everything and I mean everything except one - ELECTRICAL! Some guys changed out small fuses but I didn't even do that, that's what we paid electricians for.

I'm going to change a light/power switch in my bathroom wall. Real simple, right? Sure, but I'm still going to pull the fuse before doing it, and I'm going to wait until my girlfriend is home... just in case. It's just not worth it...

I guess I shouldn't post when tired. I get a little grumpy and take things the wrong way. Really I do appreciate all the input and advice. I think after reading all this I will avoid doing this and just get me a regulated mod or buy a passthrough. Thank you for your advice and concerns.

Your USB power supply will likely have some voltage drop as the amperage increases.
Google "A dozen USB chargers in the lab: Apple is very good, but not quite the best" (ECF doesn't allow links it appears! ...) for some example graphs of what I mean.
Depending on the supply, you may be down at 4.5V by the time it's at 2A. The thing to notice is that as the amperage increases, the voltage declines.
Unless your charger is $2 from eBay and entirely unsafe to have in your house, voltage will decline and/or it will cut off to prevent overcurrent.
You shouldn't get more than 10W out of your 2A charger. If it doesn't limit/protect itself you really should throw it away anyway.

There will be losses in the cable. These are *substantial* for most cables. Google Calculator.net's Voltage Drop Calculator to see for yourself. A 3 ft. 24 AWG USB cable (5V DC) at 2A loses 0.3V in the cable. (I made a helpful link, but ECF doesn't allow links it appears...) Standard 28 AWG cables lose more.

No promises, but *if* your coil can handle 10W, you're probably fine.

I have an aspire k1 with bvc at 1.8 ohms. How well would this work at 5 volts? The packaging said 3.3 to 4, just wondering if 5 would cause an issue.
but the aspire atlantis if you want a good tank nautalis is not designed to be use at a voltage that high depending on wats and you need a sub ohm coil or rda bda for this type of vaping mod hope this helps
