Hi,

I'm looking for a tube APV that would excel in durability. I'm thinking it should be sturdy, with no components that will fail by nature (electronics, etc.). I'd like to take a large battery (18650 or above) and be able to use easily a Kick with that.

So far I've been looking at the Legacy and the Silver Bullet. They both sound good (especially with the extension sleeve). I'm not sure how the switch on the SB works, or how long it can last, but other than that I like it.

I would prefer a side switch rather than bottom, but switch durability takes precedence. I would also want to be sure that the atomizer connection is flawless.

Any other candidates I should be considering?

I will appreciate any ideas or comments, thank you.

Both are great mods and about the same price. I was in your position some weeks ago and doing intensive research on both of them and asking some veteran friends for their opinion. I want to use it with Kick exclusively.

I like SB's no-nonsense form, switch position (and they are very durable - tested by many) and choice of colors. What I learned was SB has aluminium body (nothing is wrong with that, just to notice and watch out for oxidation), electrical switch (One more 'electrical' to worry about beside the Kick itself), atomizer connector could be a problem (wiggling, loose etc) and doesn't have a lock mechanism (the button is recessed enough to prevent misfire)

Legacy has a sleek form, which I care less. I was not very keen on Legacy's switch position but the 'mechanicality' of it make it one less thing to worry if paired with Kick - it also lockable. Lack of colors choice since it's stainless steel (some will say better material than aluminium, heavier and no oxidation) and adjustable atomizer connector (it's a flat-head/top screw).

In the end, I got the Legacy. Yes, the bottom switch operation need some time to get used to and the throw adjustment with washers took some trial and error but after less than a week it became natural and I think I develop a strong pinky. Heh. Interestingly, I found it is more comfortable to use it with my left hand and I am right-handed.

Built-wise, the switch is tough - I am still wary about the delrin piece and the spring inside but I hope PS will provide spares.

The adjustable atomizer connector proven to be useful as sometime attys/cartos don't have the same contact point depth/length.

Durability. It's a chunk of stainless steel tube body, I don't think it will need explanation or opinion ;) No need to worry about chipped paint. The atomizer adapter (top part) has big thread, less prone to cross-threading.

The nice thing about using Legacy with Kick (without extension) is I don't need to take the Kick out to change battery, just unscrew the bottom switch and replace the battery.

I couldn't say anything about SB. I might end up with one too just for comparison (I missed a couple of good deal classified some weeks ago - I might end up without Legacy if I didn't miss those. Heh). And I believe some SB fan will also give you their opinion :) After all, SB is one of the oldest APV with dedicated follower.

Other candidate (on the same price range) is probably OmeGa (+$10 and another 'switch position' preference issue), other mechanical/durable APVs are above $100 mark (new).

Some reviews from people have questioned the durability of the RES. It's made of ceramic, one or two drops and it's all over. I would not recommend this as a durable mod. I have the legacy and I like it. Only other I would consider would be the Precision plus from Super-T manufacturing. Actually at Super-T he has a new mod called the Shockwave which he is taking pre-orders for now Super T Manufacturing, Innovative manufacturer of electronic cigarette products.. It's a 18650, steel, and side button.

I'd_look_at_the_Apex_Ultra-Max_with_RES...

Hehe... It's 26650!!! If I ever need an RPG launcher... J/K, it looks amazing.

I'm a bit confused - I had seen this GrimmGreen video from Vape Bash and he was showing a "Shockwave" which was a completely different PV, still a 26650 with a special seat for the Kick, but not this Super-T one... I guess there's only so many names.

I love the Precise, I just don't know if I could shell out that much for it :( And ditto for the Shockwave...

It's been renamed into BAM and still out of stock and above $100 price tag.

AFAIK, for the durable Kicked-possible APV under $100, we only have 2 choices so far: Silver Bullet & Legacy. CMIIW.

If you're immediately talking adding a Kick to it, I would open the gates and look at a notcigs Infinity VV, $92 after the "ECF Buzzkill" coupon code. I had an original Infinity, now have a Buzz Pro -- I beat the heck out of them, including lots of drops onto hard surfaces (& into wet concrete, and...). Excellent run time between charges, well regulated VV, easy to adjust on the fly, excellent ruggedness.
