everything has 2 sides. gov argues "it encourages more ppl to "smoke", as they will eventually pick up real smoking from vaping". I think I saw this statement somewhere. Doesn't make sense, how can ppl go for something more smelly and harmful if they can have a better choice? maybe there will be a minority, but comparing to saving thousands of lives is this going to be worth it?

In any case arguing now will be pointless. our country always takes after what the big boys say and any attempt will be futile. it's the A team you know, no room for failure haha even if fail must never admit mistake. maybe in a few years time when FDA approves and there's long term study to prove it helps will we have a chance. Preferably just before the elections.

I don't think it will make them to learn Smoking but it will give smokers a 2nd Chance to Quit Smoking easily.
If one is thinking to smoke, He/She will not even wanted to Buy a $100 device to learn Smoking.

BTW vaping is not Smoking.

Zeroi - me and all my gekkos agree with you. Been smoking for 30 years 2 packets a day. Ever since i received my first PV 6 months ago....i have stopped analog. Crabs to what the law think.

HaPpY VaPiNg guys!!

It is not going up for 5 yrs.

They will eventually after 5 yrs, quote "Denmark or Sweden has GST as high as 25%, we are less than 1/2 there, so.. we up another few % and still will be lower than Denmark or Sweden.."

Then sit on it for a while for us to debate and complain over, then comes the actualy implementation..

What else could be new right?

And they are most highly developed welfare states in the world, with free healthcare, free trade regulations, lots of natural resources and less than 5% unemployment in 2008. What's your point?

Where did you hear that quote from?

I am aware they have high tax in that region, but they have all kinds of welfare. I doubt sg can afford it.I am not really afraid of slightly higher GST. Just consume less
I understand Japan is going to double to 10%. Ouch! Only thing certain in life, death and taxes:p

If they really wanna reduce healthcare costs and stress on the natl' healthcare agencies, they shld let ppl quit smoking!

It'll be a beautiful SG if they regulate and allow PVs/APVs & e-liqs sales.

It's a new-age and old methods might not work anymore. E more u restrict, e more ppl rebel. They gotta learn this soon, I hope.
