So, in a nutshell, is it worth me trying to find the web or re-broadcast of this special?

You need to hear from the horse's mouth what they are really saying to appreciate what we are up against !!!

(even tho it is the other end they seem to be talking from)

I think you Should.

To see just what some of Our Elected Officials do for a Living.

Oh, I'm quite-and-painfully familiar with the incompetence that permeates our nation's capitol. As proof, here is a recent posting I put up on Facebook, unrelated to vaping. And on that note, I depart for the wonders that lie behind my closed eyelids. Nitol...

West Virginia's Joe Manchin complained to the Hill newspaper: "I've never been in a less productive time in my life than I am right now, in the United States Senate."

That’s an interesting statement. I thought about it for a while, and decided to look a little more deeply into it.

During the calendar year 2013 -

Senate Democrats proposed 676 amendments in the last year but were allowed votes on all of seven (about 1%).

Republicans proposed 812 and got votes on 11 (about 1%).

In total (Democrats plus Republicans), 1,488 proposals, 18 of which were voted on.

Yes, you're correct – it’s about 1%.

Texas Democrat Sheila Kristel Jackson Lee has been allowed twice as many amendment votes (15) in the Republican House, in the last year, than Mr. Reid has allowed his entire Senate caucus.

Not one of the nine Senate Democrats elected in 2012 has been granted a floor vote on any of their amendments.

No opinions here, just a bunch of numbers. What’s it all mean? I guess it means that Manchin might have been correct.

We elect these people to legislate. Yet the man in charge, the CEO (if you will) turns out to be the very person not allowing them to do the job we elect them to do? Hmmm.

Interesting, these numbers…

I'm a moderate, I vote on both sides of the floor but the bottom line is we let this happen.

Term limits for all elected positions and an end to all lobbying practices would bring politicians back to representing the people and stop them from chasing the money.

Until we the people get a referendum on the ballet for 4 or 8 year term limits and a lobbying ban it we will continue to be dictated to and not represented.

"Parents with children who smoke should be jailed for abuse" Eh, that's a bit too 'out there' for my liking. Parents don't have total control over what their children do (and oppressive parenting creates more issues than it solves). They can educate, warn and forbid, but youngsters always find ways to do it anyway outside of their parents supervision. I quite liked Taylor's Tweet though.
