Hi,
Tried an e cig the other day and I think the time is right to try it out. But can anyone give me advice on a good quality vaping machine and liquids. I have been a smoker of 20 a day for last twenty years. Your advice would be much appreciated as when I look in Google I don't know what's good . Thanks in advance , Mike

If you do not know anyone who vapes who can show you their gear and e-liquids, I would travel to all of the nearby vape shops and pick their brains.

Be careful not to buy entry level gear though. Buy gear you will use for a year, otherwise you will waste money. After they break out the gear and explain the operation of it, say, "What product would be above that..." a few times and see what is out there.

There are so many types and variations out there right now. It's hard to actually give advice to one just starting. Someone will throw a list of things out to you, I'm sure.

I would start out looking at MyVaporStore though. Something in the "Shop Starter Kits" area, so you can find items already matched together.

As for eliquids, I DIY (Do It Yourself) so I have no clue to current makers and popular flavors.

If there are nearby B&M's around, go there and experiment with different flavors, chat with the staff ... basically learning about vaping and deciding which flavor and nic strength would be best for you.

But don't get carried away and buy the very first item they recommend ... ask about the items, and if you can, read reviews in the internet before deciding.

Welcome to ECF!

I am a proponent of hitting a local shop or two and trying their juices. Find a few you think you will like and buy in small bottles. Flavor can change with nic added, so try it again at home and if you still like it, stop back for a bigger bottle.

And as others stated, see what they have and suggest for gear. If it seems a bit pricey, check out the online prices. If the B&M is competitively priced, stop back and get your gear and juice and walk out happily vaping away.

From all the stuff I have vaped on, a kanger subox mini kit is a great starter. Has higher ohm coils plus an rba section to fiddle with. Will subohm and coils aren't too outrageous and are readily available many places.

There is also the standard 2 spinners and a nautilus tank setup lots of us started on. But the kanger is more versatile. Never bought from the link listed just showing it as an example.

The video that Gandymarsh posted is a very good crash course into vaping. There is a wide variety of vaping gear out there, and different people are on different levels of their vaping journey. The best thing you can do, is try one.
I highly suggest getting a somewhat beginner item. Getting a huge cloud chasing device may discourage you, since there's a lot involved and a learning curve you have to reach first.

for the battery part, I do recommend getting a box mod of some sort, since it can grow with you a lot longer than an ego battery can. if you have one that takes an 18650 battery, that is a big plus. Most of these have built in charging ports which is a plus when it comes to starting. Although I don't always recommend using an onboard charger on the device, I'd rather you start with one of these and charge from a USB port over buying an EGO or built in battery device.

I always recommend an atomizer called the Nautilus, since it has a very restrictive airflow. It more mimicks a traditional cigarette. If you bought a decent single battery box mod, you can always get a sub-ohm tank as well, so you can try that out.

If I were to recommend some setups, I would recommend a single battery box mod, like the VTC mini or the Kanger subbox mini . if it comes with an atomizer, I would keep that atomizer for your heavy uses, but get a Nautilus tank for the majority of your uses. Although you could use the device to charge the battery, I still recommend getting a Nitecore or Efest charger with a couple of good LG, or Samsung batteries.

If you're on a budget, the AIO is a complete unit, but you get what you get.. no upgrading possible. However, it's much cheaper than getting a full setup. It is a truely simple device.

As far as juices go, I'm not going to recommend any... that is a highly personalized subject. I smoked for 20 years, and I managed to quit using Hangsen's RY4. I started off at 18mg/ml to help me quit smoking, then I tapered off. I have plateaued at 6mg/ml, and I don't see changing that anytime in the future.

I hope this helps some.

EVOD Kits on Ebay, $5 each. Get 2, never a "waste of money" the 650mah EVOD is a great pocket stealth device even for advanced users as they are easy to rebuild or just rewick with cotton. Still use mine alot. If you tried one and liked it alot though maybe just get the one you tried.
