I'm around.. getting settled in and organized for another business engagement. Trying to figure out how to respond to some choice PMs. And breaking stuff (broke ~two~ drip tips somehow this morning).. -Magnus
I only purchase aluminum drip tips... I can't imagine breaking one of those.
I guess the aluminum doesn't bother you? It seems to somehow change the taste for me. Although that could be more psychological than real. I've had an aversion to aluminum since I was a kid and bit down on a piece of foil that I hadn't completely removed from a meal I was eating.
I haven't noticed a change in taste, but then again, I've only ever used aluminum tips.
You didn't happen to have amalgam fillings when you were a kid, right?
Yes, and what a horrifying experience that bite was... for a couple of months I made my mother buy plastic utensils because I refused to use the silver or SS.
You're not imagining it Sallie, it does for me too. Aluminum and to a lesser extent SS changes the taste and feel. In some cases it's because of heat transfer but I've found some pretty varied coatings on those anodized tips. On the other hand, poorly made acrylic tips can change the taste too at higher wattage applications and heat. -Magnus
I was lucky enough to not have a cavity until I was 26 so I never experienced that joy. I did break one of my back molars a couple years ago. I thought I was going to jump out of my skin when I bit down on that tooth.

I get my drip tips from liberty-flights.com. They're the nickel finished variety. Cheap and I like the shape of the "Type B".
Interesting and good to know when I finally venture into mod land. Has anyone tried glass? I'm very hesitant because I can be a complete klutz at times. I figure I'll chip it and only figure it out once I've cut up my lips. I'm thinking that may be the one material that wouldn't change the flavor. Although I suppose it might heat up and become uncomfortable with higher wattage?

I have a hard time justifying the cost of a $10+ drip tip when what I already have works so well.
Funny you should mention glass... I had to make the "executive" decision to no longer purchase glass drinking vessels because my wife has a tendency to break them. At one point she was breaking 2+ a week.

I'm interested in how those blown glass drip tips looks but at $20+ and my confidence in breaking them, I'm not sure if I'll ever take the spin. I got two Cherry Vapes, both are broken now. Regular old Delrin trips and those from Super T with the wide whistle-tip are by far the most reliable and longest lasting for me. -Magnus

ETA: I'm not one of them.
My years of drinking nothing but soda finally caught up to me... I had no one to blame, but myself for that.

Hmm, I was thinking of getting some aluminum flat tips from GV, but maybe I'll rethink that. To be honest I prefer delrin anyway. I do wish someone made a drip tip that is an exact copy of a standard 510 whistle tip cart.

Sallie, I have a question for you. How would you compare performance of Volt manual vs. automatic batteries (assuming you have some of each)? I'm trying out a 2.4-2.6Ω CE2 on my Bloog auto, and it's not bad at all, but I wonder if it would be better on a manual.
