I'm really curious how they add melatonin to the liquid. If they are using tablets, did they do anything to filter out the binders? If they're using liquid, what about the oils that are used in the flavoring? Did they somehow get their hands on a supply of pure melatonin (doubtful).

Were the Segways you rode the earlier models where steering is achieved by twisting the hand-grip or the later ones where the control shaft leans to one side or the other?
Both of my Segways are the earlier style with the twisty grip, I've never ridden the newer style.
But yes, they are awesome, it's a shame they are so incredibly expensive, there was no way they were ever going to be more than a curiosity at the sort of prices they sell for. That they are mind-bogglingly over engineered is the main cause for their huge price, virtually everything in them is as duplicated and or fail-safe as can be. Very necessary really as the damage that caused be caused by any failure could be very painful indeed.
I'm thinking of selling mine, sadly they don't get the usage they deserve.

I'm surprised the technology was never applied to new "wheelchairs" for the handicapped.
Oh, but it was, it was... Although actually it was the other way around...
The Segway was a sort of "spin off" technology from Dean Kamen's iBOT wheelchair, an utterly fantastic device which again ultimately failed due to its huge ($26K) price.
Look at it, it's amazing!!!

I've seen those and they're cool, but I'm thinking something more like a standard Segway, with a sort of unicycle-like saddle that could support a paraplegic in a standing position. Movement could be controlled by upper body orientation by leaning or twisting.

Yup...Don't ask for pics...I don't have it...its in Panama now... The mod was made purely with stealth in mind for a relative
...and it worked...no one ever knew...and the pen still worked...I can and will mod anything given sufficient reason or if it provides sufficient challenge....Muahahahaha

Yeah, that's the ticket. And that video led to some others that had a guy that was parallized from the chest down standing up on one using a leg brace. Pretty incredible.
