We are holding a survey into the smoking habits of e-smokers as well as their experiences with smoking problems since using the electronic cigarette.

We have had a lot of help from the Tobacco Harm Reduction project at the University of Alberta in constructing the project, and they will be analysing the results of the survey.

Paul Bergen has advised us that other e-cigarette surveys in the past have been deliberately disrupted through the use auto responders. For this reason, to take the survey you need to submit an email address. After submitting the email address, you will be sent a link with a unique id ensuring that the link can only be used once. While we realise this will decrease the number of responses, it seemed worth it to guarantee the integrity of the data.

Lacey advises us that the survey takes about eight minutes to complete. Any feedback would be welcomed!

I've just completed the survey, and I can say it takes far less to complete than 8 minutes. :)

Overall, good questions, but I would like to have seen more questions on before usage of tobacco and after usage of e-cigarettes. If you're going to collect data through a survey, may as well get as much as you can. Still, though, the data collected should be of some benefit.

Yes - took 2 minutes! Was expecting it to be a bit more in-depth than that - only 2 screens worth?????

The number of screens you see depends on how you answer the questions. For example, if you say you have not tried to give up smoking before you won't get a question asking how many times you tried to give up. There are actually five screens in total.

We decided to keep the survey short this time as so many surveys are abandoned half way through. Possibly a mistake, gauging from the level of enthusiasm we have seen so far! However, if the survey is a success, we will launch others focussing on different aspects.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Thanks. I thought that might be the case.

I've also taken the liberty of posting the link on the Totally Wicked forum and I know that they have started filling them out as well.
