Even though most of us have known about/used ecigs for years, only recently have they burst through the 'sound barrier' of public awareness.
I was thinking the same thing, especially locally to me. I played around with e-cigs years ago when the decent stuff was only available online. There were no stores dedicated to vaping, just the odd one that had a few disposables on the counter.
In the past year, there have been multiple vape stores opening within the city, but more importantly, market stalls selling Ego-T type kits including 2 batteries, 2 tanks, a charger and a generic no name brand of e-liquid. The packages as a whole don't even seem to be branded, but crucially they are priced pennies above a single pack of premium cigarettes. The traders on these stalls don't care how old you are, and they shift crates of them daily. Every vape shop I've passed has a minimum age of 18 to even walk in.
Most of the media over this side of the pond have concentrated on the ease of availability to minors, lack of instruction and careless use and storage. It's unfortunate that the ruthless traders, arrogant vapers who blow it in your face in restaurants and the media are spreading a negative image. Regardless, I don't agree on the suggested draconian rules that the government would like to see introduced. I would much rather just leave equipment and e-liquid in the care of responsible stores and online vendors, much like alcohol and tobacco.
