So I've been super struggling with vaping and quitting. Part of it is super mental, the other part was figuring out nic levels. I currently vape at 15 mg all day and 24 mg during craving spikes.

Part of what I initially went through was "thinking" I wasn't getting enough nic. I started at 12 and went down because the throat hit was harsh. I then realized I prefer 50/50 or higher vg. I then realized my eRoll can't handle high vg content but it was ok because the throat hit is a bit weak on them anyway. So I got halo sub zero - which I love and rock on, much better.

Since being on 15 to 24 I don't feel the cravings as much and the 24 does a nice job of getting me through those moments.

Is there some equation I can use to understand how much I'm vaping? Clearly a 10ml bottle @15 mg is the same amount as a 30ml @ the same mg. so how does it break down? Not per puff or anything but per ml. How much nicotine is in 1ml of 15mg liquid? Does this question make sense? I'm sure it's been asked so please link that thread.

thank you so much everyone for your support this is an awesome forum and I've learned soooo much!

It is not right, IMO, to label a bottle with something like 15 mg instead of the proper units, which is mg/ml. When I first started vaping, I got some juice that just said 18 mg, without even indicating 18 mg of what. Made me wonder if it even contained nicotine, or maybe some bizarre chemical substitute. The label should clearly state ## mg/ml nicotine, to avoid exactly the kind of confusion you ran into. C'mon suppliers, it is only a few extra characters to print on your labels, and could prevent you from getting sued by someone who thought the whole bottle only contained 18 mg of nicotine. It seems like a no-brainer to me that they would want to protect themselves and not leave customers guessing.

Don't worry Boletus the FDA will make certain we know everything going in our liquid ASAP and God only knows what liquids will be allowed. You may not have much to select from and the whole "bottle of liquid" may be a thing of the past if they only allow cartridges. I took it as a given that everyone knew it was 18mg/ml, but I DIY and am a bit more involved in the make-up.

Why would that be a "given"? For some of us who started doing this recently, nothing is given coming out of the gate. Hence the existence of this thread, for example.

[edit] And really anyone that cares enough to join this forum and ask questions is probably more informed than a lot of consumers out there.

I know it's probably a no brainer for most but my brain is analytical and I just needed to know what and how I was smoking in order to vape properly. Vaping isn't easy. There is a lot to know and I'm so thankful I found this forum and have learned so much! I really appreciate how free everyone is with info! I'm the closest I've been to being smoke free since I quit a few years ago cold turkey - that didn't last. I've spent a bunch of money learning to vape and today I'm proud to say I've only had a single cigarette. Without this forum I couldn't be this close to smoke free. So thank you. I now understand the juice and know what else I need to get.

Charley, I am the same way. I try to analyze everything I do, which drives some people nuts. Sometimes I ask questions about things most people take for granted, and they wonder why do I want to know that? It is my firm belief that no matter how complex a problem may be, once you learn to ask the right questions, the solution is not far away.

And kudos to you for sticking it out and getting away from cigarettes. I know it is not easy for me, and I do relapse at times, but I never smoke more then 2 cigs a day anymore, and for me that is a huge improvement. So vape on, and if you want to get analytical about it, there are folks here that will be happy to go there. And if you want something to get analytical about, DIY-ing your own e-juice provides plenty of opportunity for that (not that it can't also be done rather simply), and there is a huge repository of knowledge in the ECF subforum above, as well as plenty of unanswered questions to tackle.
