Many years ago I smoked a regular pipe on and off again as the mood hit me, but I gave it up once I had kids. Was reading an article about e-pipes today, and found the concept interesting, but there weren't any links to any good sites from the article, and a Google search found a couple dead sites, a couple Chinese vendor sites, and this forum.

SO, any good articles about what to look for? In particular any recommendations for a reputable vendor who sells these (and the necessary refills of course)?

Thanks in advance!

I find using any PV much more similar to using a pipe than to using a cigarette. You can constantly change flavors around and you usually pick it up for a couple of nice puffs, rather that puffing on it constantly for 5 minutes like you would a cigarette. I think you'd be happy with a traditional style, and I think the pipe models are pricey.

I was a cigarette smoker and still pick up the pipe. Jerkwater is correct: vaping is much more like pipe smoking than cigarette smoking. I'd add that the nicotine hit is more pipelike as well: slow and mellow rather than a slap in the gazorkenplatz like a cigarette.

You can find pipe-tobacco-like flavors. One I've tried is called "Latakia." The problem is that, since there's no combustion, they're really not like the flavor of a good blend smoldering in your pipe. It's more the case that they taste like unburnt tobacco smells, fresh out of the tin. I'm much happier with various mint flavors, menthol and fruit flavors. Your mileage may vary, of course.

You can also get cartos that have a pipe-mouthpiece-like configuration. Screwed into a fat-batt, the whole contraption weighs about 45 grams, plus the mouthpiece is soft rubber. So forget about clenching. The mouthpiece will separate from the rest of the device and hit the floor if you try to clench.

The best pipe mods are, indeed, expensive. But if you're handy and learn the ins and outs of modding, you might be able to find an "estate" pipe on eBay for very little. You can then refurbish it and mod it into a PV . . .

Appreciate all the suggestions. Particularly interested in the concept of modding a regular pipe to make it an epipe, but while I always root my phone and play with custom mods, my hardware experience usually involves some literal blood. I've built several PCs, including my current one, and I always seem to manage to find a sharp edge somewhere along the way. Not sure I could hide the stains as well on a meerschaum :)

I will keep an eye open for other suggestions, and hope to talk with y'all again soon.
