I am experiencing a problem with the VT's "temperature protection", googling that has led to reading a lot of similar complaints but no solutions.

When I first got my VT a few months ago I was switching between nickel and titanium coils, it should go without saying I used the respective modes on the VT for each. Then I switched to kanthal coils which I just used the variable wattage mode for. Well a few weeks back, my last kanthal coil started going bad, but I had a titanium coil I had only vaped on for a few days and was still tasting fine when I took it out, so I popped it back in and switched to titanium mode but it wouldn't fire, saying "temperature control." I vaped it on VW mode for a day and bought some new kanthal coils when I had money and everything went back to normal.

Well tonight I came home with some brand new titanium coils and put one in but my VT still gave me "temperature control" and wouldn't fire. They fire on VW mode and nickel mode.

So two questions:

1) Is there a solution for this problem?

2) Is it safe to use nickel mode for the titanium coils if this problem persists? What about VW mode? For reference, when I'm in nickel mode I vape at 230 C and when I'm in VW mode I vape at 35 - 40 watts. Right now I'm vaping titanium coils in nickel mode at 230 C and it tastes absolutely fine but I'm worried about ruining the coils after a day.

Behind you
I've had the same issue w/ the eVic VT with:
  1. Delta II premade Ti
  2. Smok TFV4 premade Ti
  3. RBA deck w/ Ti
In all cases the best I could do was:
  1. Unlock the key lock AND the resistance lock
  2. Let the Ti sit until it was cool (this seemed quite important)
  3. Press the fire w/o the deck/tank to initiate the new/old coil mode
  4. Remount tank
  5. ALWAYS select new
  6. Three-press, switch to Ti mode
  7. FIRE and draw a FEW times
  8. Do ~not~ lock the atty
  9. Let it go back to room temp
  10. THEN lock the atty
I kid you not that bloody dance took forever for me to figure out ands it's worked on both 1.18 firmware eVic VTs I have - one a 'M' and one a 'T'.

This all aside from the fact I can't get flavor out of Ti at the 60W peak of the eVit VT -

I should further add a local-ish shop that carries the eGo One Mega VT tank setup for the eVic VT has prebuilt Ti coils that ~always~ work on the eVic VT in my experience. Which amounts to trying it in the store w/ my drip tip ..

Good luck, -Mags

It is also possible your ti head has gunked and will not feed, thus eliminating the major source of coil cooling (juice vaporization) and causing it to go ti temp protection immediately. Not sure if it basically wouldn't hit at all in this condition, but it is a conjecture.
You can clean the head in alcohol then rinse it and let it dry. Drill out those pathetic little pinpricks for juice feed holes while you are at it, the e1m tank is a lot better when it isn't juice starved.
