Had a look at my cartomizers last night and put some thought into some of the findings of what I have come to think of as the E2 Beta group.
With that in mind I took a new pack and removed the plugs, checked and reshaped any threads that were squashed(2 in this pack) and then boiled for 10 min.
Then I drained and put them into a bread pan in the oven for 20 min @ 220 degrees to dry them out.
--started doing this when cleaning used ones to shorten the dry-burn time after boiling them, then dry-burn, blow and brush off the ash or rinse under hot water.
To get the inner plug back in place I bevel the inside of the plug a small amount with a
Cuticle Trimmer Remover, others have done this to the outside of the inner plug.
I have a dead 510 that I removed the battery from the casing that I screw the carto onto when inserting the plug so that I don't accidentally push the post out to far.
It was observed that some cartos wicked well with the inner plug undisturbed but wicked horribly once cleaned and the inner plug reinserted so with that in mind I gently lifted up on the sides of the plugs by the slots to increase the gap between the wick and the bottom of the ring part of the plug. If I get excessive leaking I put the middle O ring back in with its air-hole opened up more using the cuticle trimmer, and if necessary push the inner plug in by a small amount to close up the gap slightly.
This is working the best for me right now without playing with PTB or cutting the wicks out - although that does work awesome

.
Once the taste starts to go "off" I will start a fresh/cleaned carto and put the used one in the to be cleaned bin, and when I am down to one in use will clean them and am ready to start over.
All the best,
Wing.
