Hi All
I am looking to turn my 510 into a 510 on steroids. What is the best mod to use that I can make and get parts in local stores for. All the mods in the forum sections are making my head spin. I love my 510 but hate the battery dead when least expected issue. I want a good throat hit more than anything. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

By the time you buy the batteries, the hardware, the charger, the shipping, etc., on your own version of a mod, you'll probably spend about the same amount of money (and expend a LOT more frustration) as you would by buying any of the several available and complete mods that are out there for less than a 100 or so bucks.

I strongly suggest you get a decent pre-made mod (check out the review forums for one that suits your style), and then take your time to play at making your own.

But, that's just a suggestion.

If you haven't tried already, get a USB passthrough (non-battery version is around $15.00) and you will be able to vape at 5 volts. I also have an USB to wall adapter (around $8.00) so I can use the passthrough without plugging it into the USB port on my computer. Instead, I can use a 120 volt wall outlet. You might also want to try direct dripping. I don't even bother with refilling carts, topping off, etc. A few drops directly on the 510 atty, and I'm good for 6 or 7 puffs. I've used a couple of plastic carts that I have trimmed about 3/16 of an inch off of the end (the end that goes into the atty) so when I drip, I don't have to worry about the inserted plastic cart getting hot and melting. Recently, I have started using a T-Tip from super T manufacturing, and now I really won't go back to carts. The T-Tip is $20.00 and lasts forever. I also have a Juicebox mod coming and I will end up ordering a GGTS when it becomes available, but I can always fall back on my 510 with USB passthrough if I have to.

Best of luck in your search for a better vaping experience!

Thank you to all. I have come to the conclusion that I am going to give the NicoStick build a try to keep as I love to tinker.
I am also going to buy a pre-made one for traveling. (Some of them look like Mini Light sabers and I always have to answer people as to what I am smoking anyway).
I have a USB pass for my 401 that I use at the computer (dip), but it seems as though I don't get throat hits, just vapor. Maybe due to a auto battery.
Again, thanks all and now its time to spend some more money.

I managed to build a 3.7v 510 nicostick. It works good and has much better battery life but I want a 5-6v mod next. I have very limited skills with a soldering iron and managed to get it the first time. Also look into the laser pointer mod. Very easy to get your feet wet but it is also limited in its own way but super portability. I'll try to tackle a variable voltage fistpack this summer. Good luck!
