So I ordered 5 flavors from the guys at EC and they even threw in a sample bottle which was awesome. But as the title says, they all taste like cloves on the exhale..I swear. It's almost unbearable in some cases. Does my juice just need to steep? Or did I screw myself by getting xtra double flavor (lol) and extra flavor on some of them? Even my stevens surprise that I left stock though had this taste.

I hope it just needs to steep.

I ordered 9 samples, all from their traditional tobacco line less then 2 weeks ago. My initial impression was similar to yours. I don't know if I would describe it as clove. To me it was a sort of perfumey odor and aftertaste ranging between potpourri and licorice(which I hate btw). Fortunately I'd read a number of reviews that warned to give their flavors at least a week steeping preferably with the lids off.

Right out of the box, I liked the flavor of both Chocolate Hazelnut and RY4, but the perfume aroma overwhelmed and ruined it. The good news is it did begin to fade after a couple days, and only got better with each passing day. I definitely plan to order both of these in larger bottles. This has been the case for all the flavors, but at somewhat different rates it seems. After these two, I enjoyed the Tobacco blend, the Desert Gold, and Darkness(tobacco with coffee and choc) a lot(after the unpleasant aroma faded) and I will probably order these in larger bottles as well next time. The 7-leaf took a bit longer to come around, but I liked that one too after a week or so. I might be inclined to reorder that one but I'm still on the fence. The last 3 I disliked from the outset and still don't like today after well over a week of steeping, even if the unpleasant aroma isn't as pronounced. I seriously doubt I'll get through the entire sample bottle of any of them. The Black Magic tobacco taste like a black licorice tobacco flavor to me. For all I know that's what it's supposed to be, but if so the description didn't clue me in or I wouldn't have ordered it. Lastly, the Classic Red Box and the New Red Box flavors tasted awful to me from the start and still do. I don't even know how describe these but I don't like how they taste or smell. The two are very similar(the new is supposed to be more cig-like with a more smoky flavor), but it seems like whatever it is that I don't like about the Classic, they doubled up on in the New, lol.

All in all I ended up liking 6 of the 9 samples, which I don't think is bad, especially when you consider their prices, which are phenomenal. In general, I wouldn't order double flavor unless I've tried the standard mix first, and even then only if I have plans to dilute or mix it if it doesn't work out as well as hoped. The few times I have ordered double flavor I've regretted it.

You didn't mention how long you've had your flavors and how long they've been steeping.

Definitely not psychological. It is a very very VERY strong woodsy aftertaste to it. This includes ry4, peanut butter cup, caramel cappucino, steven's surprise and dragons blood. They are very flavorful on the inhale and on the exhale I swear it's like burning lumber, clove, sticks, whatever. But woodsy is the best word for it.

I have all of those flavors, minus the ry4 - none of them have a clove aftertaste, but those flavors do need to steep for at least a week (in my opinion). Shake them up, put them away, and maybe try them on a freshly cleaned atty if you're drip tasting them one after the other.

DXF seems to make a lot of their flavors kind of... funky. You might want to pick up a bottle of VG (Walmart, near the bandaids - 3.88 for 4 oz bottle), and dilute the juices to see if that makes them more palatable for you.
In some flavors XF is great, but I haven't had any lucky with DXF flavors I haven't diluted :)

Good luck - let me know if that helps!

Diluting with VG is fine if you don't mind the reduced nicotine level, otherwise you may want to get some unflavored nicotine e-liquid instead. It's usually a lot cheaper than the flavored juice. I picked some up from Myfreedsmokes this time last week when i saw they had a sale going. It's kind of a convenient item to have on hand.

lol I really think it's the DXF that's giving your that clove hit - I tried DXF on the Orange Cream my first order, & it was wretched. Got it again as a free sample, just straight Orange Cream, and it was yummy. If you want to vape it at lower voltages, just try diluting it - nic juice is great it you have it, but if not, try diluting just a bit of it with vg to see if you still have the clove taste before investing in the nic juice :)

I just opened and tried Hynotiq and Absinthe from EC Blends that I received yesterday (I have no patience haha) Both are really true to flavor. HOWEVER, that being said... I might not notice a licorice or woody flavor because that's what I like. And, I'll mention that also in my order was a bottle of true black licorice flavor. The ENTIRE order smells like licorice haha. In fact, I could smell it before I even opened the mailing envelope. It's so strong, I'm almost afraid to try it (I plan to cut it with french vanilla actually). haha. I love love love the Absinthe though.

I"m just using a standard 808 cartomizer with a drip tip. Nothing unique or fancy, in fact, according to most here, probably sub-par, but I'm lovin' it! They are all 50/50 pg/vg.
