ECF Pop ups

am i all of a sudden getting popups off this site

The only pop ups I get are when I try to open PMs. But maybe my pop up blocker works better?

This is exactly the right area to get responses.

Recently I've seen a similar thread, in this forum area the answer is that the person had picked up an add-in to their browser, nothing to do with ecf.

Take s look at the threads here, see if one matches what is happening to you.

This is proper area for you ask questions regarding site issues - not the General E-Smoking Discussion.

That is why the forum has different areas for different subjects instead of one big dumping hole.

There are many that are happy to assist with troubles and they watch this area.

As stated in the other thread ECF does not use pop-up ads, so the most likely case is you have managed to get a browser plugin installed or some other ad serving "malware" (I use term loosely, but correctly -- since almost nobody wants to have pop up ads!)

I operate a similar forum in another industry and we've had similar issues with tapatalk.... which ECF uses.

Make notes of the popup urls and redirects and post em when they happen.

All of the recent cpmplaints have been directly linked to a specific browser plugin

Check your browser for a spyware app called Info Atoms.

In my case, it was a Chrome addon called Join Tabs. No popups that I noted on ECF, but new popups elsewhere. Oh well, it was useful before it went rogue

ETA: Not a bad idea to disable Java. Facebook had a nice little outbreak from a Java attack that was posted to a mobile developers forum.
