Hello everyone. I’m new to the ecigarette world and also to this forum. In my decision of which product to buy (Joye 510) and also where to buy (E-Smokeytreats.com) with great feedback from all of the members and video reviews by Terraphon (Youtube handle – thanks by the way, your reviews are awesome and amusing) I feel like I could find a home in this community. I also feel that this and many other communities are in jeopardy.
Like most of you I have been smoking for 14+ years and tried quitting. Each time I failed not only because of the nicotine addiction but also the physical addiction and the realization that I LIKED it. I enjoy smoking when on a phone call or working. Thanks to the ecig I can continue to enjoy this without the side effects and knowing in the back of my mind that it might hinder me from seeing my future children grow and have grand children. I feel so strongly about this product and where it will go that I’ve decided to step up and do all I can to see it grow in popularity and social acceptance. Many people complain and talk about stock piling reserves in case the FDA closes its fist on us.
We need to be heard. We, as the believers in this product, need to educate the public. How? By any means necessary.
I am a filmmaker from NY who would like to produce a documentary on Ecigs. I want to show the truth behind the product and bring the faces of those it’s helped (and those whose lives were saved by the product) into the light. I have the equipment and the know how to get it professionally and legitimately done but I need help from some members to make this happen.
I don’t want your money, I want your knowledge. Here’s what I need:
1) I need stories of people who have quit smoking (or drastically cut down) thanks to the ecig. I want to interview you/your family on camera.
2) I need facts:
a. What chemicals are in ecigs? (good and bad)
b. What research has been done? (positive and negative)
c. Who is trying to ban it and why (Let’s expose the hypocrisy)
d. Nicotine facts (good and bad)
3) I would also like vendors to showcase products and talk about how they make their juice and other such things.
4) ANYTHING YOU MIGHT SUGGEST
The documentary has to be honest, hence why I ask for the good and bad. We cannot get called out on our information as trying to slant the truth. We’re not like those trying to ban us and we won’t lie. This could be the perfect tool to introduce the public to the product and possibly help others. Will it work? Let’s hope so. If not, we tried another way to get ourselves heard.
Anyone willing to be interviewed, please be in the New York area as I can’t afford to fly all over the place though I’d like to. You can PM me and tell me your story. Anyone who feels they can help in anyway feel free to suggest how. Let’s make this happen and be quick about it! You're right. I'm sure the information I'm looking for is all over this site. The problem is it's scattered and finding it would be very time consuming. I'd like to get this thing going ASAP. I'm just asking for assistance in gathering information. If any of you can help me by just linking to specific threads of information that is important to convey to the public/ our representatives.

I can't do this on my own, especially in an ever shortening time frame. This is for all of us and those whose lives could be bettered.

PM me if you want to help and especially those in New York!

One important voice is Dr. Michael Siegel at The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary Siegel is an anti-smoker and a doctor who is VERY supportive of e cigarettes

You should also reach out to Dr. Joel Nitzkin, Chairman of the Tobacco Control Force for the AAPHP. He's pro e-cigs, and will give you good, balanced information - including his concerns about them.

Thanks for making this huge contribution to our cause!

I would be in your film. Although some might address me as a spook or crazy person due to other circumstances. But the e-cig has changed my life a lot and has since day 1 gotten me away from analogs. From my first vape until now I haven't had an analog and have no urge to go back.

This is a great idea though. Hopefully when you get this done it will become widespread very quickly and reach out to everyone. Good luck with your endeavor.

I would like to offer my company to be filmed, for another perspective of the industry. I am not concerned with marketing or gaining sales from this, you can leave our name out if you want. My company has had several shipments seized by the FDA and are constantly struggling to stay in business, plus we might be a great representation of a majority of the ecig companies in this industry. At the vary least, I would be happy to be interviewed.

You might also want to contact Bob Godshall, he is the head of Tobacco Free Pennsylvania and a huge supporter of ecigs. Let me know if you want his contact info.

If there is anything we can do to help, we would definitely be interested in helping. I can get you in contact with Matt Salmon, President of the Electronic Cigarette Association as well as many of the board members.

This page Resources | Electronic Cigarette Association also has a wealth of people who would be interested in being quoted, interviewed etc from all walks of the public health/tobacco harm reduction side who I could get you in touch with, including several of the before mentioned like Godshall, Nitzkin and Siegel.

Please feel free to PM me.

Also... you definitely need to get ahold of Spikey and the guys from ELiquidPlanet as they are full throttle in this Suffolk County legislation brew-ha-ha. If they don't swing here on their own, I can get you those email addresses/contact info as well. Spikey runs http://www.vapersclub.com/ which would give you direct access to quite a few ecig users in the New York area who would be more than willing to participate. They are a very active group.

There are also a couple of other members up here I will PM and make sure see your thread as they would be very valuable with information.

I second this suggestion in it's entirety for emphasis. Actually I second all previous posts, but know these people are in New York area.

Hello inked :) Spikey here.. President of the Long Island Vapers Club and associate for the newly formed New York City Vapers Club. If you check out Long Island, New York - Vapers Club and see the info page and the links page... it contains allof the links previously listed in one place :)

The info page and links page has links to all of the experts mentioned here (go to this page... Propylene Glycol Research Study Results .. it is called "PG Safety" on the Info page) as well as links the ECA and RightToVape.com. You can email me at VapersClub@aol.com if you have interest in meeting our vapers club (or just being a member!) and we are happy to help. We are busy trying to prepare a press kit for media release of info but will make time to help you if you need it :)

Good luck!

Before you take anything matejbusic wrote (or rather cut and pasted) please spend just a few minutes with google. If you search for "Propylene Glycol msds" you will discover much truth in what has been said. HOWEVER, if you search for "usp Propylene Glycol msds", the product used in e-liquids, you will discover completely different safety information.

BTW
You should definately take Spikey up on the offer. Our vapers club is comprised of a broad demographic and you could really get lots of commentary attending even one of our meetings.

matejbusic an interesting c&p from What is Propylene Glycol?

Have you checked the references as there is some confusion between the effects of Ethylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol. Note: Water is used in many products even anti-freeze. Yet to ask "…. What’s Anti-Freeze doing IN my" tea, coffee, diet soda would seem to confuse an ingredient with the product itself.

There is rersearch showing adverse effects from PG though, for adults, the quantities involved are large or given intravenously. Remember the dose makes the poison.

Check the page spikey refers to for some detailed, both past and more importantly recent, research on PG.

This guy joined just to post this BS - - Look at his record - That's all he's posted anywhere!

I love how in one paragraph it is BAD because it makes things more moist - and then in the next it is BAD because it causes dryness - - WTF? LMAO

Yea - I read the data sheet myself - While many of the above mentioned side effects can occur - The rate of occurrence and the severity of the reaction are all LOW to NEGLIGIBLE - - - - Read the sheet of which you speak - Compared to the dangers of TOBACCO SMOKING - Lesser of two evils by A LIGHT YEAR!

There are so very many things wrong with that list of panicky over-reactive hysteria peddling that I'm not even going to try - Just read the data sheet for yourself - If it irritates you don't use it - It only does that to some not 100% - GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!

    Inhalation:
Low hazard for usual industrial handling. May cause respiratory
    tract irritation

PG MIGHT give you a skin rash - TOBACCO WILL KILL YOU -

    Material Safety Data Sheet

The poster should get involved in this movement as well - Facts About Dihydrogen Monoxide
