Here is the view of the UK Center for tobacco and Alcohol Research:

"Despitethe controversies, it is clear that e-cigarettes are far lesshazardous than is tobacco. With more than a million UK smokers using them to help to cut down or quitsmoking, they are proving to be valuableharm reduction and cessation products and could make a substantialcontribution to reducing the burden ofdeath, disability and poverty currently caused by tobacco smoking. Healthprofessionals should embrace this potential by encouraging smokers, particularly those disinclined to use licensed nicotine replacement therapies,to try them, and, when possible, to do so in conjunction with existing NHSsmoking cessation and harm reduction support. E-cigarettes will save lives, and we should support their use."

Whilst here is the view of the Health Promotion Board in this region:

"There are no safer alternatives to cigarettes when it comes to tobacco products!"

Oh dear.... it almost sounds like a promotional statement for cigarettes! Lol.

In fairness they do say "More research still needs to be done to establish the usefulness of e-cigarettes to help people quit smoking."

More research has already been done. And the result is very clear. It's a pity they don't seem to have read the reports!!

They are missing a huge opportunity to improve the health of their citizens.... very sad.

Pharmaceuticals is one of the pillars of SG economy. The ban enables big G to get the best of both worlds, ie, tax collection and yet still keep the pharmas in SG. The pharmas continue not insignificantly to GDP, and you know what is pegged to GDP.

Finally someone understood what I wrote 2 years ago....
