Edit Function Decays

If this has been brought up in the past, I apologize in advance. I would like to request that there be a longer decay or no decay at all for editing original posts. I've noticed that in several forums, especially the modders forum, that there is a huge lack of organization to threads due to the inability to edit posts after the decay period has expired. You see a lot of threads that are hundreds, or even thousands of pages long with information strewn throughout. While it makes for an interesting read, it could be eleviated by simply removing the edit decay and allow for information throughout the thread to be compiled into the original post.

I would like to ask, for the sake of compiling information into the original post, that the decay either be removed or lengthened to a point of a few weeks at least.

If this is at all possible, I'm sure a lot of people would greatly appreciate it.

I can't see this being changed due to some issues we have had in the past. I suggest that if a thread starter wants to change a sticky, they hit the "report" button and put in the message box either the edits to be made or something like "can a mod please PM me so I can send them the edits needed to update this thread".
