Editing posts glitch?

Sometimes when I edit my posts, if I don't put a "reason" in, it won't say below my text "This post was last edited by Xanax at ##:## pm/am". This happens at random, sometimes the message is there when I don't put a reason and sometimes it's not.

What's up with that? Does it just not say it on my account? Like will it say "last edited" if another user looks at it? Or is it just random whether it says it or not?

I've found that when I put in a reason it will always show up.

If you edit a post within two minutes after posting it, the "edited by" tag will not show unless you type in a reason for editing..

Whoa, really? That's weird, is that the way the site is coded on purpose? Or just sort of something that happens on BBcode forums? Any reason?

It's set that way on purpose. It's for those few times when you post something, look at it, and see that you need to make a quick edit because you forgot a word or misspelled something.
