Can't seem to find a straight answer. Aside from the mah rating, is there other differences between the red 2k efest and the black 2600mah efest batteries?

Amp limits appear to be the same, they are both high drain imr's, and both are unprotected safe chemistry.

The information I've found is the black and gold 2600 mah Efest is an ICR protected battery (not safe chemistry and not high drain). You got a link that shows different?

Efest 18650 2600mah 3.7v Li-ion flat top battery-Efest battery for E-cigs

http://www.efestpower.com/Product/0619471338.html This is a protected Efest.

If you look at the picture. The label says for use in personal vaporizes, flashlights, etc. That's why I was asking. It is definitely not a protected battery though. I currently use the red V1's. Was looking to ad a couple more to my collection, but don't want to try one that isn't safe. I only use regulated mods, but I want to have quality, safe batteries.

The IMR 18650 1600 mAh have a 30 amp rating. Those are the safest for micro coils and such.

Right. I'm not looking for High amp batteries right now though. If I delve into sub ohm, mechs, etc. I will then go at a 30 amp protected battery. For now I am just looking at something to use in my Vamo V5, Itazte VTR, and Smoktech SID.

The red V1 2k mah IMR 18650 Efest I currently use, slide in and out really tight in the SID. I was looking for a solution that would slip in and out easily. I don't like the chance that the insulator jacket could become worn very quickly with the extra friction installing and removing the batteries daily.

Thanks for the reply though.

Oh man..I rock the red Efest 2000 in my Vamo all day long...at 6.5watts I get 2x days of HARD vaping out of mine

I got mine from RTDVapor, I use the flattops V1

They are more than adequate for an APV and pulse firing...not for high current sub ohm craziness

P.S. Baditude is the battery supergawd on here...he KNOWS his batteries...where do you think I learned from :D

Test of Efest 18650 2600mAh ft (Black)

Test of Efest IMR18650 2000mAh (red)

Hope that helps

Comparator
Battery test-review 18650 comparator
On the 7 or 10 amp the "red" battery isn't even on there...aka...more than likely not safe for more than 5A continuous

Perfect! Thank You. The links you gave answer things perfectly. While the black Efest benchmarks out with longer lasting performance, I believe it to be a straight Li On bat, while the red Efest are true IMR safe chemistry, and there fore would be best for use in regulated mods.

Am I reading the information and the comparison correctly?

Right! I was hoping he finds time to chime in. I read his battery guide and carto guides repeatedly. lol.

Negative

The black is a higher current IMR a 10 am safe continuous, the Red is a 5A safe continuous IMR...
Both would be safe in an APV, the Red is the LOWEST you want to push a battery in a APV, anything less current risks running into the stress too hard and cause the battery to get hot and a hot battery leads to 'splody 'splody

The test shut down the continuous current on the red at 5 amps..the black went up to 10...so the red is safe for 5A continuous (higher for pulse) and the black is good for 10A continuous (higher for pulse)

P.S. I see you ride, keep it shiny side up ;)

Efest 18650 2600mah 3.7v Li-ion flat top battery-Efest battery for E-cigs

Efest 18650 2600mah protected Liion battery with Nipple-Efest battery for E-cigs This is a protected Efest.

I can assure you those batteries are ICR batteries. If the description says "Li Ion" and not IMR or high drain, its an ICR battery. The description also says "high density" (ICR) and not low density (high drain). "High capacity" suggests higher mAh, also a property of ICR batteries. High capacity and high drain mean different things.

You said you plan to use these batteries in a regulated mod. Regulated mods perform much better with high drain batteries. They use pulse regulators to make higher voltage, which means the amp pull from the battery can be twice what an ICR battery can provide. Technical - why high drain batteries? An ICR battery will "work" in a regulated mod in most cases, but it will not perform optimally. Why spend money on a battery that will not enhance your regulated mod's performance? The only application for an ICR battery using mods is with a mechanical mod not using a Kick or Rebuildable.

You said you want to use quality safe batteries. I suggest you buy the red AW IMR 2000 mAh batteries and then rest assured you are getting that.

Don't those all have circuit protection built in? So you can pretty much use whatever fits well for them.

Yeah they all have built in protection. However, if you put a protected battery in, they circuitry clashes and doesn't work properly. Is it unsafe? Potentialy no, but why take a chance damaging the battery or the mod circuitry.

The black Efest is an ICR Li-Ion battery, I don't know the amp limit but typically these batteries have less than 4 amp. The red Efest is an IMR battery with a 10 amp continuous discharge rate. The red Efest is obviously the better choice for a regulated mod.

Baditude. I see the the physical diameter of the AW is .1mm larger then the Efest. Do you know this to be accurate? Reason I ask is because on my SID, the Efest already install pretty tight, and I am worried about damage to the wrapping. I won't use a battery with any visible signs of damage.

I've not read of any issues with AW batteries fitting any mod.

The Panasonic and Orbtronic hybrid batteries have a wider diameter than typically-sized batteries, and they have been known to not fit mods with a low tolerance to battery dimensions, such as the iTaste VTR.
