Just quick question... 1of 2 of my SIDS will be coming in the mail today and its my first apv. Question, anyone have success in using efest 18650 protected batteries with the SID? After researching I fear I'm not going to be able to use my new mod til I get different batteries. :/
I have used some crappy batteries on my sid. protected. but I never went above 10 watts on a 1.5ohm coil which is around 2 amps. but now that I have my 30A Sony's I can vape at 15 watts all day long.
I wouldn't recommend using protected batteries because they have a lower continuous current rating and can over heat shut down or worse. but i did it and it worked. just don't go crazy high power.
I agree with DeCastro. You can probably use the protected Efests until you get some more appropriate IMR high drain batteries. Just don't use higher voltages (over 4.0 volts) or request a high amp load (sub ohm). Some regulated mod's protective circuitry may falsely recognize a protected battery as a short and refuse the fire.
My recommendation would be the red AW 18650 2000mAh IMR battery.
I have an SID. It won't close all the way with some batteries.
I asked RTD Vapor to check the sizes of their IMR batteries for me. They told me that the AW IMR 1600 is the shortest IMR that they carry. And, since it's a very highly recommended battery, that's what I intend to buy when I order next.

Aw IMR will be my next purchase. I have 2 3000 mah ultrafires that I'm not even going to attempt. Another hour til I'm home from work to see what my result will be for my first mod. Ahhh, anticipation. Thank you all for your responses.
