In the past 2 weeks, my wife has killed:

3 standard ego batteries purchased from Cignot.
2 XL ego batteries purchased from Tasty Vapor.
2 XL ego batteries purchased from Cignot.
1 mega-xl ego battery purchased from Cignot.

Five of the six deaths she was using a Bauway LR atty, the other one was a standard Joye atty. What happens is the batt will not turn off and the atty will begin to fry. No matter how fast she catches it and takes the atty off, the batt no longer works. The batt has a strong smell of burnt plastic.

We both share the same equipment, so I do NOT think this is a product issue. After she killed one batt tonight, I gave her a mega-xl batt that I had been using this this afternoon. Five minutes later, the exact same thing happened.

The differences I see in our vaping is that she does not use the cone, she tends to take a series of short puffs while holding the button constantly. Her attys do get very hot while vaping.

Is she getting the atty hot enough to melt something inside the batt? If so, what is the best solution? Since this has happened with a regular atty as well, I'm not sure if just taking away the LR attys will solve the problem.

Any thoughts?

Probably some debris on the battery conection. That is what it turned out to be w/ my eGo that fried(and stunk). I believe when the batts are shorted(like conductive debris in the terminal), the IC goes caput and stays on and eventually trashed the cell. This seems to be pretty comon unfortunately. What I do now is clean both the atty and batt terminals every time I charge. Haven't had the problem since.

LowThudd is right. Check the atty. There is very little clearance between the +/- and it only takes a small piece of metal to create a short. I had a bad connector on an eGo charger conection (small piece of solder flash) and it cooked a brand new battery. Is you wife really cranking down on the atty? It does not have to be really tight. Did all batts fry w/same atty? Look at the atty I bet there is something touching acrossed the o-ring gap.

I just killed an Ego battery with a Bauway LR Carto. I purchased a pack of 5 from Mad Vapes and all 5 do the same thing - they randomly TURN ON THE BATTERY all by themselves. I didn't catch it and the carto melted in to the battery.

Now some people will say "It's your battery" - this IS NOT the case. My batteries never stick with other cartos or attys. These Bauway's even cause my PASSTHROUGH to "stick on", not to mention they can shock you as well. Luckily the passthrough I use (MadVapes 5v) has a very good protection circuit, which the Ego does not. If it sticks on the passthrough the power to the carto is cut off and the light just stays on, with the battery it keeps it hot (until it melts). All you have to do to turn on the battery is screw in the carto - no button press needed with these pieces of junk.

I will never buy a Bauway atty or carto again.
