i took apart my ego battery today really simple inside ,it stopped working but he switch light came on. so i thought one of the conection was off, but posotive was loose so i solder it back , actually i think i ripped off when i pulled out screw.
any way what i realised was due it knocking about the battey comies off its neg connection. it pushes up along the casing disconcting from the solder blob at bottom of casing
i think this must happen to alot of people

Doesn't yours have a hard-wire soldered to the negative tab??

the neg connection is made by blob of solder on neg batery conector and blob of solder at the bottom of the casing, crude and simple why fix the wheel eh

Interesting. That's not the way it is on mine (plural) at all. You can see the flying negative lead in the picture. That lead goes up and is captured by the pressed-on atomizer end, creating a good ground.

i feel truely privledged to get a responce from u scottbee
my q to u is how did u make it consatant 3.7v

Bah! Flattery will get you everywhere.. but I'd really like to think that I'm not that shallow (OK.. OK... I guess I am).

Thee are a number of ways to get true 3.7V out of the battery.. but they largely depend on how you plan on charging them after that! Since I was going with the external charger connection on the Super TorneGo II, I was able to get rid of almost all of the Joye circuitry, just use a simple MOSFET with the existing button switch.. and I was done.

If you want to preserve the charging capability.... there are hard ways and easy ways. The easiest way would probably be to put the Kanger circuitry in there (sacrificing a KR808D-1 battery to the cause).

Dumb question, what did you use to get into the batt?

Second to groovy's question (about whether you think you'll be able to get it all back together alright)... how do you plan to reseal it all in the end?

if u look at scottbee pic u can see were it comes apart
best thing to do is heat it at that point near button but onthe casing not silver switch area. and then pull apart u need to heat melt glue is easy to put back together
the battery is very simple so is easy to fix, it just can come of connection as u spin it around putting atty cover on ,and putting it on charger

i am sure that is not a loose wire it connects to the switch bit

so u replaced the switch???

if u look at the switch were the posi wire connctsfrom batt u will see a bit furthe along a ground or it says g that is were it soldeers that is why maybe ur switch didnt seem to work and u replced it
speculation on my end

I have taken a number of these apart, and on all of them the flying ground lead did not go to the printed circuit board. It was captured in the crimp between the casing tube and the switch holder. That's not to say that they didn't change the design along the way.

I didn't replace the actual button/switch on any of mine. But I did change the way that the circuitry worked. And I didn't take any of them apart because they weren't working, I took them apart so I could increase the delivered voltage to the atty.

The fact is scottb3ee i am sure u r right i am wrong.
But my ego was a tornado and i think had a loose wire
i soldered it onto the switch board , but it all works fine
we will not know until i take apart the second batt of the set which is workin fine.
The thing is i found well,my tornado. That is to be too powerful ireally think the m401 was the best for vapin but when i stick it on the ego it has too much power coming through causin a burnt taste ,but is ok on a normal 510 batt .whats ur opinion.
I want to marry my m401 atty and ego batt to create in my opinion the best ecig, the prob with m4 was the damb cutoff .other than that it was smokin!!!!!!!!!

Bored...

You are completely vindicated and you are correct.

I had the opportunity to take a few more Tornado batteries for various reasons. These came from a MP. They are different than the earlier units that I had taken apart, and indeed they are (now) running the "flying ground lead" to the "G" thru-hole on the printed circuit board. And they are now only running one wire to the atty connector, where my earlier units had both + and ground.

Keep in mind that the M401 appears to be a very low voltage device. I believe right off the charger the batts read 3.1V (that's with no load). So I assume while actually vaping it was in the 2+V range. The official M401 PT hooked to my computer was at 3.4V (no load) and did noticeably dull the flavors and increase the heat.

SCOTT BEE U STILL THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!

( i tried for hours to get that extra wire to hang and make a connection thinking i must be doin wrong.... hahahha but ur auto charging bat makes up for it,genious

but, what i want is to use my m401 an ego together runnin on lower power it should make battery last longer
i was thinkin resistance thingy majigs to resist the power flow. truelly m4 are better vapes but 510 r less hastle ones u get the groove ,but i may be different .i get 2 hrs vaping on my ego bat where an how people get 6 hr i just dont know and i filled cart i would class a vaping minimum. or am i over doing it we are addicts by nature,it worries me smokins o.k in moderation but we over did that , an now vapin....
