Just wanted to bump this topic to say you don't need to resort to analogs! When I'm out and stuck with no puffing power I just rub a couple of drops of liquid into my gums. :-9 It takes a minute or so for the must-have-cigarette-now panic to go away but IT DOES go away. Do it again once or twice to really feel satisfied. But wait a couple of minutes because you don't want to get nauseated from too much. Rub it in good, above your back teeth.
Also if you use more than a large drop, or put a bunch on your tongue you end up swallowing it and, well, we've all done that. It's hard to get the burn out of your esophagus once it starts. Especially if you don't have water with you, you really don't want this result.
Also works great for socially "unacceptable" places.
