My ego battery, which i am pretty sure is genuine considering what I paid for it, the packaging and were I got it, does not deactivate with the five click method. I have a hard case for it so it hasn't been an issue, but still it's annoying. I've cleaned the batteries pretty well and and I'm fairly sure there isn't any stray juice around. I think but am not 100% sure that it did at one time.

I put one through the washing machine last night, not only is it stuck on on-mode, but I can't even get the led light on the button to turn off. On the flipside when I put a tank on it, the light turns off and I can't get it to fire up. My point is sometimes these batteries do really weird stuff for no reason. Granted mine did go through a wash:p

I have one that turns off and on with only 3 clicks. Usually I dont even count I just push the button rapidly until the light starts flashing. As far as genuine most of the Ego t batteries actually say it on the handle and Kangers have their logo on the bottom and say EVOD on the handle. Those are the only batteries I buy!

I had to search for an answer to the same problem, and found all these posts instructing how to turn it off with the 5 clicks -- most annoying yet prevalent answer when posts already said it. The only way I actually and finally turned it off was to pull the top off with pliers, got a big whiff of sweet/sour gaseous smell, and found that the battery was leaking. There was a burn spot where the red lead connected to the battery. So when your e-cig is malfunctioning, guess what? It's malfunctioning! Mine was a genuine VisionSpin variable voltage, and I won't be buying that again. Granted, among the millions of e-cig batteries made there will be defects, but batteries can be potentially dangerous, especially when malfunctioning. And no, I did not have e-juice leaking all down into the unit, nor did I send it thru the washer, or drop it. I'm not saying that a VisionSpin is bad, just saying that it malfunctioned after using it for a month. (Hopefully the image inserts here.)

P.S. I noticed the VisionSpin was turning itself on because I heard the tank sizzle, it sits right here next to my keyboard. The light would not only stay on but also blink several times and basically would not respond to anything I tried. I however did not try to charge it, that seemed like the last thing I should do if the unit was turning on and also sometimes blinking all by itself.
