Liberty Flights just started carrying a variable voltage RIVA battery (works fine with my eGo LR tank atomizer). These have been around a while, but they started at about $30.

Electronic Cigarette - Batteries - Variable Voltage Riva

It's only $20, little more than a standard battery. It's about 3/4" longer than a standard 650 mah battery. The voltage has three steps, the highest being 4.2V (no load.)

I just got it a few hours ago and I can notice a big improvement in vapor at 4.2 V. So, for the price especially, it might be worth trying. I like it. Can't see paying $60 or even up to $200 for some mod which may not be any better.

Edit: The link may show a price of $24.99. You have to click on the "20% discount" somehow to get the real $20 price.

I did a review of it, link in my sig. :)

I think $40 is a great deal. There have been some issues with people's boosters falling apart, mine included. My dial fell out in the first week I got it. However, service is fast and extremely (extremely) good, which makes up for it, in my book. I had a replacement Booster in my hands 4 days after contacting Artisan and I am in the Philippines!

My replacement booster has been going strong since (knock on wood) and its been to China, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and on 2 domestic beach trips with me in the past 3 months. I have been keeping a velcro cable tie around the dial, as I am a bit paranoid about it falling off, but its been a champ and I am not sure if having the velcro is doing anything besides keeping my paranoia at bay. :)

I just sold my booster. Wasn't too impressed with it but I also have a ton of VV mods. The booster is okay if you want a little warmer vape than what a regular ego battery puts out but it wasn't enough for me to keep it. I didn't have any issues with it falling apart but a good friend of mine did. I believe the manufacturer is replacing it for her. It's a nice little gadget that will improve your vaping session.

They don't ship to the US?

There's a US supplier but I don't recall who it is. Happyvaper ships to anywhere. :)

I just saw that my Ego Booster bro, GIMike, has given up on the booster after his replacement one fell apart. :( As I said, my replacement is still going strong, but there might very well be QC issues. I will revisit this in my review when I get a chance.

I have no issue with your opinion, but I have point out that the "VV" battery has only 3 modes with 4.2v being the highest. It is not actually variable. Sure its an alternative option for those on a budget, but it is not in the same league, function wise, by quantitative comparison.

I am not saying its bad, I had 2 of them that are good to take to the club when I know I am going to get sloshed and will probably drop my PV several times and loose it. I used them for that purpose and lost both of them. I have more coming in from Healthcabin. I am just saying, its not nearly the same in function.
