Can you open them up and replace the battery, once it no longer holds a charge?

These are the specific models I have:
eGo Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery - Black w/Rubber Button
eGo Mini 350mAh Battery - Black

Nope. PVs that use regular batteries are usually called "mods". You can google for "18650 e-cig mod" or "18350 e-cig mod" to find something comparable in size with replaceable batteries.
