Ego EVIC vs Sigilei Zmax

I feel weird that I am still rocking a Twist.

Haven't heard a mumble about the Twist since the Zmax, eVic, Itaste MVP, and Vamo appeared.

I'm not whining or anything. I'm just amazed at the supersonic developments in this area.

Just got a Vamo, and I'd say +1 to the OP on Vamo, but...

I used my Twist most of today just trying a new tobacco (MOV 555) flavor in a fresh Kanger. Vaped like a champ, good flavor, no battery change!

the issue isn't the volt/watt limitations of the SOFTWARE that limits the eVIC, the issue with the device (which is the root cause for it limiting the volts/watts) is the AMP limitation on the SWITCH (a HARDWARE issue)....no two ways you look at it, a two amp switch really isn't much, you're not going to get much power out of the thing past 8 or 9 watts, even if you "hack" the firmware on the device, it will still be hardware limited, and won't produce the power, look to PBusardo's video on it, as i think he phrased it the best-

why have a device that has a 15 watt setting if it is unable to produce it?

granted they have since fixed it and it no longer has this setting since the 1.1 firmware update, but i don't see it producing any higher power than it already can

edit: i wanted to add, i'm not bashing the device, it looks like a solid entry level mod that has some potential, however, i think it to be underpowered (i usually vape in the 10-12 watt range) and i'm thinking that, even with the ability to update firmware, this is probably going to get the good ol' version 2 treatment soon...i'm not calling it a total fail, but it needs a better switch at a minimum.

Yeah I wish Joyetech would just come out and tell everyone what the real amp limit is on the device. I think I remember hearing someone say they saw the thing doing 3 amps (someones video review), but I'm not so sure it will. At the retail price point I wouldn't recommend it, I got mine for around 60 dollars in a group buy so it was worth a shot for me. Good thing it wasn't one of the units in the head recall. For someone who uses dual coils, standard or high resistance attys or a high wattage vaper like yourself the eVic is an easy pass.

Personally I avoid gimmicky mods. I don't need something that counts my puffs, goes into standby mode at a preselected time or delivers low amps. I generally don't buy any mod v 1, I wait for them to work the bugs out and then I get one.

I'm a hard core vaper and a hobbyist, but with the exception of the Egos I used when I started and now a few Ego twists and my Galileo all my stuff has been USA made until now. I have a couple of the Anyvape CVI's enroute and a Sigelei Zmax waiting in a coop. I'm ready to try variable wattage outside of my kicks, and Provape seems to be not ready to produce a variable wattage device any time soon.

Both the CVI and the Sigelei have excellent reviews, oled screens and RMS. In fact the CVI only has RMS available. I believe the control head for both are made by the same company.

I broke my no v1 rule on the CVI due to the fact that their V2, coming out this month is gimmicked up like an Evic and I think it's ugly and going to overheat with that plastic all around the control head.

Time will tell, and the price was very reasonable. Both of them are great looking mods, the Sigelei and the CVI v1.

Actually, for a no-nonsense VW experience you might want to look into a mech mod with a kick. No menus to fiddle with, just a consistently good vape. For someone who constantly changes tanks and accidentally changes settings(it's happened to me on the zmax), that would be ideal.

Great idea! But... I tried it with my kicked SB.... the button was too hard.... and it would be to big with the 18650/kick extension.... Women are so hard to please! (did I say that out loud? ;-) )

Indeed! My Provari Mini and Sigelei ZMAX hit my sweet spots equally well. Built like a tank!

quite frankly, i think the siguieli'max is one of the best devices out there right now (this is coming from the owner of TWO provaris) simply for it's extreme flexibility...you have the option of extreme power or mellow vape with a few clicks....and is a great bang for your buck

I would probably just go with the sigelei or the Anyvape CVI...you could even get the CVI in different colors with an anodized finish, and at less than 60 USD it's a pretty good deal.

I agree...can't wait until the DNA20 tube mods get to the market, will start giving my China made variable power devices away when they do.

I have the Sigilei Zmax black, and I was rather disappointed with the aesthetics. with the 18650 battery in, its lighter than my ego C Twist. It works flawlessly however, just wish it weighed as much and was as sturdy as the SS version.

No VV beats the Provari though. I can run 1.0 ohm Genesis atomizers no problem with it (although I only get 2 hours with the 18350 and 3 hours with the 18500 on my mini). Both the sigilei and vmax give me "too low" readings and wont fire. Think i'm ready though for the mechanical mods which are better suited for low ohms

Seems like you and I are on the same page. I already ruled out the VAMP (the spring problems, chrome finish that scratches at the drop of a hat, etc) and the eVic (power problems; I use a 1.5Ω coil). With it's OLED screen, better power capabilities, and almost universal praise from reviewers I trust, the Sigelei ZMax, in matte SS, seemed a no brainer. Then the AnyVape CVI showed up.



AnyVape's Chinese manufacturer likes to talk on their Facebook page. They have said they plan on keeping the "V1" cosmetic version along with the "V2" they just announced. No change other than the look, and both will be available. The display on the "V2" will read horizontally, unlike the "V1" which reads out vertically. I might actually like the "V2" in black, though I still like the "V1" cosmetics more.

It will be interesting to hear your experience when your stuff arrives. I've decided to wait another month or so to see what else is going to show up. I'm hoping to maybe see evolv's DNA20D show up in some commercial stuff (I don't want to build myself something right now). Or maybe another user upgradable alternative to the eVic.

To hold me over I just got a SmokBox VV Beast, which seems to be working wonderfully.

I would personally prefer Evic, as it is top notch .... + software upgrades better design, better cleaning of device. The Zmax is not bad either as it is SS and all, but I would still go for the Evic.

I prefer the ZMAX, the Sigelei version in particular. The Smok Tech versions have also served me well, but I like the display of the Sigelei and it just seems a little more solid. It is a little wider, though. The EVIC is also a good device as long as you don't bump into the amp limitation. I did, and that's why it never came close to taking the spot of one of the ZMAX, VMAX or Provaris as my daily vape.

I thought the Provari got Error Messages at 1.2 ohms or lower??

Provari can push coils as low as .8 ohms, it won't run them well most of the time (due to the amp limit it can only push 2.9 volts to the coil) but the point is it can certainly do it.
