I guess I didn't blow out quite all the oil when I loaded up the first one as it was extremely nasty for the first hour but it's working fine now.

i noticed the black oil (primer?) with the first emdcc i opened ... it actually dripped into a bottle i had been filling it over (overfilled that first one). i had the nasty taste, too, but the next 4 i opened didn't have that problem at all! go figure!

also, if the new, round tips are made of the rubber they used on the first ones, i'll be glad i bought the drip tip. lol

to anyone who was interested in the vv box mod, smoktek just put them up on their site!

SmokTek "SmokBox" - Custom 5 volt Box Mod - A Personal Vaporizer with Power!

i love mine! you can use the emdcc with this vv box with just the 510 ego mega adapter. btw, this is not a paid advertisement ... paid for my smokbox vv like anyone else would. i'm just so happy with it that i had to share ... love vaping the emdcc's at about 4.5 volts!! :)

Wow, the SmokTek VV box is already out of stock. Well, must be a fine box.

JJ :)

there's a chat link on the smoktek web site. you can ask rob when they'll be in stock (he's very friendly) ... should be soon, i think. i actually went to the store, and he sold me the only one he had in stock ... got the first one and do i ever love it! rob said more should be arriving soon. i just saw the wait list, too. i haven't vaped an emdcc on an ego or kgo since i bought the vv box mod! variable volt vaping is still new to me, and i can't get over how great it is! just wanted to share the info because the emdcc's seem even better at 4.5 or even 5 volts. i'm in vaping heaven and can't stop smiling (not an exaggeration)!! lol i can't believe i finally got a vv for a decen't price. :)

just wanted to add that it's nice to have a store site where i can use chat to to find out what i need to know (no ticket system here). rob's a nice guy and has been very helpful. i'm now experiencing the full range of the emdcc's.

I was just looking at the "Smokbox" and I'm really impressed at how well it was put together. It looks almost identical to the one I bought from MadVapes except that they used more care in how they built it. The wiring is beefier, everything is reinforced with JB Weld and best of all, it includes an LED. I'm happy with mine but would have gladly paid another $5. You got yourself a great mod.

yes ... i was thinking the same thing myself. the smokbox does have a good solid feel to it and is put together extremely well! i have the vv box mod, tho ... not the 5 volt. what you say makes a lot of sense, tho. it's nice to know that the smokbox vv mod will be available soon so more people can try vv vaping. right now, i would not have been able to afford a more expensive, high-end vv mod. :)

Cartos shouldn't have primer. I haven't seen anything like that with any I've opened yet. And, I hope I don't.

I've been using 2 of these with my 2 favorite flavors for 4 weeks now. Today one if them just wasn't hitting right, weak vapor and taste. I checked it with the meter and it was registering 3.3 ohms. Obviously one of the coils went South.

So a new one has gone into service. The other is still going strong.

4 weeks is quite good for a carto, and the other is still going strong at 4 weeks+. I hope these stay available and affordable for a good long while.

I wonder how long MV will have the market cornered? A little competition will help to keep the price low. (not that MV is charging too much, I think they are a bargain)

They don't. Nhaler has them and so does COV. Madvapes is the only one with a price I'm willing to pay for them, though.

yes, my feelings exactly. i didn't think these cartos would have primer, or whatever that was, either ... and it hasn't happened since then.

in a little over a month, i've opened 6 emdcc's and finally tossed 4 of them but not before doing some investigation (am saving the batting). anyway, here's a possible useful tip that's probably covered somewhere in cartos 101, but i haven't noticed anything about it regarding the emdcc's, and i've definitely begun to be more serious in observing this with these great cartos (i ruined an emdcc in less than a day last week):

i now spend a little more time making sure the center hole in the batting doesn't become closed and cut off air flow (especially after overfilling and even dry vaping). if i check this about every time i top off or refill, and use my straightened-out, handy-dandy pc paper clip tool (a large safety pin works, too), it really seems to help. i'm using both small and large straightened paper clips. the center hole on one carto became too closed to be able to get the larger pc tool inside without damaging the coils, so i started with the smaller pc tool and was able to slowly waggle it in to widen the hole enough to successfully insert the larger pc tool. it is also possible that you might damage the coils doing this, so use your own judgement. so far, this has only improved the way my emdcc's work and also their lifespan.

Wow. That made a huge difference in my four-day old carto. Thanks!

how many days are you getting with bobas? im also curious what juices you guys are using to get 2 or 3 weeks out of the same carto. (i am getting my cartos tomorrow).
is it safe to assume that these cartos last just as long as boges? have any of you used boges and made the switch to these cartos and noticed a long life? (with the same juice used in both)

Genius!!! LOL Thanks, it saved some of my cartos that had become very hard to draw and now are working good again. Leave it to the noobs to think outside the box! LOL
