Been trying to read and decipher the opinions in that thread about carcinogens in PG and VG. Best I can tell, the conclusion is: "Eat Mor Chikin"
I peeked in there a couple times today too.
Last post was a tc guy saying that maybe people get used to dry hits and they get use to them and don't know the difference!!!
I'm not going back in there after that asinine comment.

Thanks, Puff. But... I'm still confused.

Let's take our beloved Presa. The specs say that: Our default setting is SS316. TCR value is 120 [what ????].

And you can try to use TCR mode and set the TCR value according to your coil’s material.
Material: TCR value range
Nickel: 600-700
NiFe: 300-400
Titanium: 300-400
SS(303,304,316,317): 80-200"

Soooo, per Phil, if your device is tuned for a specific SS alloy, like ss316 for most TC mods, if you use a different alloy, your temperature reading will not be accurate unless you switch to TCR mode. But I see peeps using all kinds of ss alloys all the time, most often ss316L and and others, in regular ss mode (not TCR).
And then I read post like this one:
Temperature Coefficient of Resistance?
Somebody help me....

@Katya
whoa, you are complicating it way too much - set it for SS316/22w/250° - it's that simple (forget TCR / M1 /
upload_2017-3-8_21-24-31.png
/ etc.)
just do that and you'll see how simple it is, then later you can do some custom settings to fancy yourself...

You have no idea...

set it for SS316/22w/250°

That would be Fahrenheit, right?

Right.

Wait a second. Don't I need to lock my (cold) resistance somewhere? And then the chip will keep asking me if I'm using the same atty as before? That was the part of TC vaping that annoyed me the most--but those were the early days. Maybe things have improved.

Do you rebuild your egg rolls with ss wire, too? I'm pretty sure you do, but I'm too tired to look for your old posts. Please forgive me.

Any particular gauge you like that's easy to work with?

BTW, do you happen to know what firmware we have in our Presas? I got mine last summer, so it should be v3, but my screen looks like v1.2.

yes °F
LOCK - you don't HAVE TOO - just keeping it simple, maybe at a later time you can play with LOCK, but now-NO NEED

30g SS around 2.5mm-3.0mm mandral

just do it like I said previous and that's it - see how it goes
just put device into TC Mode / set TC Watts to 22W / then push fire button to escape mode

then set TEMP to lowest 200°F and start climbing till you like what ya vape in...

then fear will subside & you'll turn into an old hand at it :D

ETA: coils need to be built between .1Ω - 1.5Ω for TC to operate

report back - I can't wait

Don't hold your breath. I need to get some wire first. :D

So, ss316L, 30 g? Is that what you're using in your egg rolls? What about other atties? I'm looking for an ss equivalent of 29/28 g Kanthal--I know it's different, but I want something that's easy to work with. Do you build spaced or touching coils? Does it matter with ss?

Mike, you sound just like me when I get into YouTube. One song leads to another, then that sparks a memory and I'm off in search or this song, that artist.
I used to work as a DJ (not the hip hop record scratching kind... the spinning tracks on wax from the stacks kind), so I always think in playlists...

yepper - I use SS 30g (28g) in everything now - and prefer only spaced wire (no touching)
sounds like the 30g SS will be just what ya like (it's cheap enuff get a 28g SS also)

you don't happen to have any Ni or Ti coils laying around ( so to try )

I've been reading about ss gauges--peeps are using as low as 20 g.

I'll probably get some 28 (or 29 if they have it)... I want to make sure that the coils will fit into smaller atties.

As a matter of fact, I do. A bunch of them--Ni and Ti. But I'm chicken...

yes I use the fatter 28g (on occasion) it fits fine (but mostly 30g SS is just dandy) - IMO

I figured you should have some Ni/Ti sitting around...

no worries, just same set-up - start LOW (200°F) and rise the scale to your happiness... (230°, 250°, 290°, 320° etc.)
just put Presa in the proper TC Mode (Ni/Ti/SS) for the coil you're using (ez-pz)

Got my Presa and I'm totally confused. Some ss wire on the way 30gauge and 28 from Temco. Mini nauti on Presa for now.

no need to be confused...
make a coil (.1Ω-1.5Ω) / install it
clk fire button 3 times enters MODES (choose TEMP SS)
set the TC Watts to 22 Watts

now set TEMP °F to 200° and start climbing TEMP till you're happy...
