Hi, Guys.

New member here.

Do people on here recommend the ego one for a beginner? I've already got an cigalike type device but it's not that great and replacement cartridges are expensive. The only consistent negative feedback I've heard on the ego one is that it can be hard to refill with the e-liquid. I do however like the stealth like size of the device.

I have a heap of 24mg 50/50 liquids on the way, as I'm in Australia I had to order nic juices from the US. I haven't bought the device yet but I will buy locally in time for when the juice arrives in a week or so.

I think eventually I would like to mix my own liquids too so any advice on what I need to get started with that will be helpful

Thanks

The tank isn't hard to fill. I really like the ego one for what it is. The only problem is that it has no vw, so that's up to you. For me I fine tune the power for different tanks and juices. I rarely ever use my mech mod because of that, which operates the same way just without any safety.

If it were me I would look at getting an istick 40w tc or ipv d2 for size and functionality. The evic vt is very heavy for its size, so that's something to consider, but it's also a good smaller sized box mod. The mini version is coming out soon too.

You've got plenty of options. Watch some youtube comparisons of different devices and see what functionality you might want. At 12mg nic you're probably not going to want to subohm so I would stay away from the subtank kits because while they do make higher ohm coils, the flavor is going to be pretty bland. I wouldn't want to vape with more than a Nautilus mini or protank or another tank that caters to the higher ohm crowd with that juice.

Yeah I actually got the 24mg nic. I got a bit ahead of myself and just thought I would need the strongest as the cigalike I have is 18mg and not really hitting the spot. I might just get the ego and buy one of the others suggested once I get a better idea of what I want. It couldn't hurt to have a spare, and it's not a huge investment.

Thanks guys.

The Ego one will be miles ahead of the cigalike, a thing to keep in mind the included coils 1ohm coil is aimed more at mouth to lung(like a analog) vapors. Where the .5ohm coil is more aimed at direct lung inhales. Your nic @24mg will be very strong. A 18mg on a cigalike is more like a 9mg with a decent device such as the ego one. If you feel light headed or dizzy this is a tell sign for your nic being to high. As a general guidance rule the .5ohm coil -sub ohm vaping- you will want to cut your nic mg in half.

As a example, I tryed a ciglike and threw it away and went back to smoking for a yr till I bought my 1st cheap pen vaporizer, I smoked 40-60 full flavor analogs a day. I bought 1 bottle of 24mg and a 18mg and switched back and forth. Once I upgraded(knew I was going to stick with vaping) to a similar performance set up like the ego one I dropped to a 12mg. Once I went into sub ohm vaping I went to 6mg.

Vaping higher nic will make you vape less at a higher ohm coil 1.2-1.8 or so, it also saves more juice.
Vaping on a sub ohm set up usually all tho you lower your nic can increase the amount you want nic, and will burn juice a lot faster.

Anyways I wish you the best of luck.

I'm going to go against the grain and say the eGo ONE is best suited for folk that enjoy vaping at two levels higher power. I wouldn't want to vape at either 17 or 35 watts with a diminshing level of vapour.

To me, the jump would be too big from cig-a-like to eGo ONE. Better off getting a fully flexible system instead. This means a variable power battery and then (to go with that) the right sort of tank to suit your needs. 10-14 watts - mini Nautilus. 12-20 watts - subtank mini 1.2ohm OCC or RBA. Or even a Kayfun (8-14 watts) might suit you.

If I had graduated from a cig-a-like to an eGo ONE, it would have been a disaster.

Ego One is good for beginer and you can use 0.5ohm to see if you like lung inhale. The downside is hard to refill and also clone is everywhere. I think the one I use is clone because it is cheap to be true but stilll perform well so far. I would recommend temp control device. I don't know others but for me TC is the future. Istick TC40W is cheap and good. eVic VT is too heavy, eVic mini is on market now.

Hi Dewar,

I'm very new at vaping; about 6 weeks or so. I bought my 2 ego ones from our local vape shop. The staff member there suggested this device for me as I was a smoker.

As the ego ones are the only e-cigs I've tried I have nothing to compare them with. I can tell you from my experience thus far I'm quite happy with them.

As for difficulty refilling the tank, well, that did take some getting used to but I no longer find it a problem. I started with 18mg of nic and switched to 12 after about 3 weeks.

As mentioned, the unit comes with 2 different coils - the 1.0ohm and 0.5ohm. I am a mouth-to-lung inhaler exclusively and use only the 1.0ohm coil...more resistance I found/find helps mimic drawing on a cig. But that's just my preference.

I'm not the sort who wants to rebuild coils, sub ohm etc so for me, the simplicity of the ego one is what I like. I actually ended up buying a second ego one as a backup. Once I'd given up the cigs I was terrified of the battery draining and having to wait until it recharged. Having a 2nd unit also enables me to have 2 different flavours going at the same time. You may find you tire of one flavour...I did. Started with full tobacco flavour which ended up at the bottom of my list after a few weeks. I tried it again yesterday and nearly gagged *blech!*.

You've been given some great suggestions from other folks here. You'll find that choosing a device is very personal. Loads of options can make your decision confusing but in the end if you don't spend an arm and a leg on your first device you can perhaps purchase a 2nd down the road...or a couple of weeks later if you're like me :)

My suggestion would be to continue to peruse this forum, ask lots of questions, check out YouTube. The folks here are very friendly and helpful.

Good luck!

Cheers

I'm not really interested in direct lung inhales so I will stick to the 1 ohm coil. I guess I will just have to take it easy on the 24 or dilute it. Can't wait to get started. I went a few days off the cigs with the cigalike but I realised my supply won't last me until the new stuff arrives! So I've been using just one 1ml cartridge a day which doesn't last very long as I feel the need to chain vape it.

I use and like the ego one tank...mostly for stealth situations...out and about. I agree that it is a bit hard to fill and a pointier (is that a word) tip on your bottle will help. I don't have the battery portion, but the small tank is great on an istick for a grab and go device. When I'm at home (semi-retired) I prefer a subtank or kayfun because my baby boomer eyes have trouble seeing the liquid level in the small ego one windows. I use the clr (rebuildable) coils.

From what I've gathered, yes, I think that's a good part of why people upgrade. That and maybe just an alternative. I admit I'm slightly obsessed with looking online at a different device but I haven't taken that step yet.

So happy you're enjoying your eGo ONE! Getting pleasure from it means staying away from the cigs. Good for you!

*CLINK* ...cheering you with my eGo ONE :D

I've had 2200 mAh and 1100 mAh Ego Ones for just over 6 months. During this time they have both served me well but the rectangular buttons have started to get loose and rattle - and the 2200 battery doesn't always activate now unless the button is pressed dead centre. Prior to this I could press anywhere on the button and the device would fire. I think that the button connection is getting worn over time and will eventually break - making the battery unusable even though there's nothing wrong with the battery cell itself. Quite disappointing!

For this reason my next upgrade will probably be something where the battery and its housing are separate - in case anything happens to either you can replace that part. And having experienced the wattage/voltage drop-off in the Ego One battery from fully charged to dead, I will also get a variable power device so I can keep it at the setting that I want for any particular juice.

I expect Joyetech will introduce an upgrade to the Ego One next year where the tubular form factor is retained while adding variable power and a removable internal 18650 battery. That would make a lot of sense.
