I tried to do some research on the materials for the Smoktech Ego DCT tanks, and couldn't really find anything leading me to believe they were either polycarb or polypropylene. When I received the tanks a few days ago, they were crystal clear.

After vaping numerous tanks through them, they began to get cloudy and I noticed that the juice was tasting like plastic. Do the other SmokTech tanks do this? I used a Mom & Pops Mini Sub tank and it never had the problem.

I love the way the tanks look on my Ego Twist, but so far have been displeased with the lack of capacity, and now this problem with them clouding up and tainting the juice.

These are the tanks I'm using, with a Boge 2.0 carto. I am wondering whether this is a common problem or not, and especially if the Slim Smoktech tanks do the same thing.

I wouldn't have a problem buying a cone and getting some of the Slim tanks, but if they are going to cloud and taint the juice I'll probably just pass them up.

The thickness of the glass tanks wouldn't work too well with an Ego Twist, I don't think. I like the streamlined look of the Ego tanks on the Twist, instead of the top heavy look and feel of the bigger tanks.

The juices were NiteLiteVapor Twilite and Backwoods Brew Maple Tobacco.

Pretty certain the clear tubes that clouded up are made of polycarbonate. This plastic is well known to be vulnerable to cracking and even melting by certain e-liquids. Some vendors are making the plastic thicker thinking this will solve the problem, but it only slows the degradation process. The cloudiness is the breakdown and leaching of chemicals from the plastic tubing -- I hope you didn't try to vape this juice once you noticed the change.

Safer tubing material is available. Someone mentioned pyrex glass, which is the best. Another alternative is polypropylene. This is the same plastic material that medical syringes are made of and has a frosty appearance to it. It is totally immune to chemical leaching and cracking from e-juice.

Smoketech has begun selling these safer tanks. I have gotten mine here:

510 Pro DCTank Combo

Kit includes drip tip and 5 pack of cartos. Nice deal. PB Dragon also sells just the tank, I think. Always look for the polypropylene tubes which will be frosty looking.

Unfortunately, I did try vaping the juice. I was under the weather and asked my girlfriend if it tasted like plastic. She said it tasted fine, so I figured it was my cold. Once I seen it starting to spider crack, and getting cloudier I went back to a regular carto.

Thanks for the link on those polypropylene DCTs. I'm going to order a few of the slims and hope that they look as seamless as the Ego DCTs on an Ego Twist. From what I can tell the Ego DCT tanks aren't available in polypropylene, so I think that is what the problem is. :/
