eGo Solar PCC

Does anyone know anything about these solar chargers, if they're useful or are worth it? I seems that (if I'm not mistaken---famous last words) a lot of them all seem to be made by one Chinese manufacturer, then sold on various sites for $25-$40 or so a piece. Are they worth the money for the convenience factor, or does anyone have one they could share info on? Thanks. Analog free since 7/18/11 and have saved a ton of money, don't reek, and can now get from Point A to Point B without passing out.....not counting the YATL (Years Added To Lifespan!!!!)

If you're talking about solar external batteries then meritline.com is the place to go. I have one and love it. My sweetie just bought me one of the Solar PCC's last night. Has a 1500mah battery in it, can be charged from the sunlight or by a USB cable. Just got it completly charged up after I got to work this morning. I can't say how it will perform yet because all my PV's are fully charged. I was gonna let my iPhone run down and see how it does on that. I'll try to update as I use it more.

Well first update. The one I have which I don't know the brand name. The 1500mah battery won't do anything with an iPhone 4. Pluged my 400mah spinner in and the charger went from red (charging) to YELLOW? WTH. Yellow. Got home and tried the wall charger and it showed that the 400mah was fully charged. Haven't tried it on a 1000mah battery yet but I'm thinking in a pinch it would keep you going.

Ok finally tried the Solar PCC on some bigger batteries. Even if it won't charge my iPhone 4, it does a really nice job on my eGo's and also kGo's. I charged a 650mah eGo and then put a 1100mah kGo on it and it charged both up, just like it should. Think this may be a nice way to go in a power outage.

Although solar power these last years has grown up a lot it still has a long way to go. I owned a boat for many years and had to deal with solar chargers for a long time. I'd rather have a PCC and a power pack such as Sony's (4000 mAh) or a mod with some big batts (Trustfire long 66 mm pack 5000 mAh, enough for any vaper in a pinch)

I can't tell from the photos of the Meritline product, but does it have a female USB adapter for the EGO USB chargers or would I need an additional adapter?

The one I have has a usb cable hooked to the battery. You just plug in your charger and it worked. And I agree with wanting a bigger better system but for now it might get me through a few day of no power. It doesn't seem to require much light, but I haven't proved that yet.
