Hi All,

I know that this might be discussed 100s of times already but more i search the more i get confused...

Here's my story:
I have been vaping last two weeks and EGO T initially resolved all the problems like battery life and catrige filling issues....But after week it is giving burnt taste, very little vapour, leaking etc. I no more enjoy vaping cant taste flavours and very very annoyed and questioning my move from smoking to vaping!

I am still very new here and not expert at all in mods, kits or ejuices, what i wanted was a hassle free solution to smoking but this is turning to be a nightmare

there are so many cleaning techniques shown here and on you tube but thats like being a full mechanic. Are there no simple fixes? I have cleaned atomisers etc only using tissues before today and just before this post i have washed and left atomisers in hot water for 15 minutes and now left them to dry... I dont know how to fix wick etc and dont even know what other internal parts are called...As people say VG did make these problems worst but now i am unable to vape atall due to these probs

Is there a simple solution????

Worst thing is that I have convinced my uncle to switch to vaping from smoking he has been smoking for 50 years...Now I feel bad that the EGO T kit I have bought for and I am going to deliver him this tomorrow...A BIG MISTAKE???

Please advice me as the situation is very annoying

Thanks in Advance

Hi Shaks,

Glad that you posted this- am having the same problem with my Riva (eGo) 510. Was great for a few days then, poof, tastes a bit funky and the liquid seems to be like vaping h20.

I'm going to be waiting a few days for my cartomizers and back up juice to come in but was wondering - could it be the juice? The flavors I'm tasting are truly eau de toilet.

Any advice appreciated.

eGo mega dual coil cartomizers(EMDCC's) or try the type B atties and cartridges for the Ego, the EMDCC's are around $2.50 a piece, the hold quite a bit of juice, have good flavor. I liked the cone shaped atties(type A) until they started leaking bad, juice getting into my mouth. I use only VG juices since I can not stand the taste or smell of PG juices for whatever reason, even at a low percentage. There is a thread around about using a ultrasonic cleaner to clean the atties with vodka, which seems to clean them quite well and get the burnt taste out

Sadly, my own experiences with eGo tanks were that they were nothing but hassle. Great idea but they just weren't executed properly.

For now however what I would do for a thorough clean is one (or all) of the following:

- Soak in PGA or vodka 10-15 minutes. Alcohol leeches E-juice out very well.
- Soak in or run a carbonated liquid through (soda water, coke, whatever). Dissolved carbon dioxide in liquids react in solution to form carbonic acid which is good at dissolving burnt-on gunk from the coil.
- Soak in or run lemon or lime juice, or vinegar through the atomizer. Citrus juices contain citric acid, and vinegar is acetic acid. Like carbonated liquids these are acids that can eat away at the gunk.

After any or all of the above rinse very well in hot tap water (hold under flow with a pair of pliers) for a minute or so. Blow out excess liquid and let sit half an hour or so. At this point I'd suggest a dry burn but that involves removing the needle plate, and that's a bit of a pain in the ..... The above method should get you by enough to use for days more. But remember to clean these things regularly -- at least once a week or more, especially with tank atomizers.

You wick is not in the correct position; it is causing wicking issues and burning your juice into the wick. There is a fix for it, you need to clean the wick and reposition it.
1. Pop the piercing plate off. I use a small screwdriver against the piercer and push until it pops off. The wick usually stays inside the piercing plate.
2. Gently pull the wick out keeping the little mesh band attached. This band hold the wick together and hold it in the plate. If it falls of you can unroll the mesh with a paper clip and re-roll it around the wick. its a bit of a pain so try not to pull it off. :) The wick should stick up above this mesh a smudge (16th inch or so) to allow the wick to get direct contact with your juice. If it doesn't try to gently push the band down a bit after cleaning it.
3. Wash the wick in hot water until white again. I usually just wash it in running water from my sink. dry by rolling in a paper towel.
4. Put wick back in plate. If it wont fit back in roll it between 2 fingers to tighten the mesh. You want the top of the wick the to be flush with the short side if the piercer. Prime the wick with a few drops of juice.
5. Slide the place back into the atty and push it back into place. I use a multi-head screwdriver with no bit for this. You will hear it pop back into place.

Its fairly simple once you get the hang of it but I suggest making sure to have a back-up atty before you attempt this for the first time. Just in case. :)
