I've tried about five types of e-smokes so far, probably spent a grand since I started about 3 years ago (which actually isn't bad) and I have the same problem which I can't seem to escape. The atomizers burn and taste like crap.

I did my research and got a eGo-T and Low Resistance atomizers, I've been using it for a few days now taking care of it, never running it empty and my first atomizer already tastes burnt and giving out minimal smoke.
if I blow out the atomizer into a tissue it looks like there is leakage and lots of fluid has collected and turned from clear to dark brown just like how all of my other atomizers on every esmoke I have ever owned do.
it could have been a fluke in that tank and the hole was too big causing leakage but I'm on my second tank and it seems to be still doing it, but I need more testing time to be sure. My fluid is pretty thin, it's HG stuff.. I am thinking that it has something to do with it. I'm trying another slightly thicker flavor right now (5*5) where my previous juice was clear thin grape.
also, the juice in my tank goes from clear to brown pretty quickly, so it's absorbing some of the burnt fluid from the atomizer.

any suggestions that could help? :( I am thinking if I mix in some VG from the grocery store to thicken it up it will work, but I am afraid it will not taste good, I tried it a few years ago and didn't like the result, but I did add a lot, I will have to try less.

Yeah, pure PG liquids can be thin, and the ego-t is picky sometimes. I had to adjust the wick on mine, be warned if you try this it could mess it up badly if you do it wrong. I use a PG/VG mix about 70/30 i think? (from iVape.net) Love the Sweet Caroline flavor blended with Menthol!

If you look inside your ego-t where the tank goes, you will see a small spike in the center. Now look into the middle of that spike (good lighting helps here) and you will see the spike is hollow, and there is a wick, with 3 small holes surrounding it.

Now, I wasn't getting enough juice to my atty, so I simply took a toothpick, and VERY VERY gently pushed the little wick in, just enough so I knew it moved. Now in your case, you may need to do the opposite. People have different ways of doing this, but this way may be quicker. Get a thin safety pin or needle, and again very gently insert it on the BATTERY side where the little hole is, being careful to work the needle slowly past the atomizer coil, you don't want to bend that. feel around and you will have to guess about where the wick is. Simply push up gently until you feel it move just slightly, and it shouldn't leak as bad! :p

If you have an eGo-T that is leaking, you have one a couple different problems. First, the liquid may be too thin which would allow it to drain out of the tank, through the wick, and onto where ever else. The next possible trouble point is the seal between the cap of the tank and the spike in the atty. This is a documented problem if you are using hard cap tanks, but could also happen with the soft caps if you twist the tank on the spike. One more possible trouble point is if you are not seating the tank all the way down. When I first got my eGo-T(actually, 4 of them) I looked inside and wondered  how it was that they DIDN'T leak with the size of the spike. But I have not yet had that problem with any of them, and that's with my wife and I running 3-6ml of liquid through them every day.

DON'T DO THIS!!! It did in fact bend by atomizer coil. A tank cap got stuck inside on that peg just now, and when I pried it off the needle came with it. Underneath my atomizer has a small bend in it. No damage done other then that, it still works, but it prob could have been worse! :( Sorry for bad advice :( I had done it a few times before, figuring the needle would slide through the coil, but I didn't realize how tight the coil was wound, I never had a problem but, it wasn't until now I realize it bent, and may have been lightly burning liquids... I do need to get a new atty now :( resorting to Joye 510's and Ikenvape 301 LR (love)

I also had the same problem with my ego-t's. I've done the wick adjustment as mentioned, though on a few atty's I didn't have to. The main gripe I have with the ego-t is the leakage issue. Got all this great juice which was leaking once the tank's hit about a third of their capacity. Ended up giving up on the ego-t atty's as a daily p.v. I've invested in the new ECHO kits with the auto batts, which have worked really well! However you don't have to buy a whole Echo kit, you can get the Echo-e cartomizer for your ego batts you already have, about $5.00 each from a few vendors here on the site. The ego tanks I was using were holding about 1ml of juice, these echo-e carts hold a little over 2.5. They vape well, just pull the whistle tip off, fill the cart, replace it and screw on the battery and you are good to go. And the most important thing, no leaking (some happens when filling) at all while on the battery, in my pocket, chilling wherever. And the burnt taste and leaking from the ego-t is a thing of the past. I'd suggest the echo-e cartomizer, lot's less maintenance over all. They work really nicely on the ego batteries.
