Do you have another b tank? Its possible that the spike in your unit is malformed allowing juice to slide on down. I have 4 LR 'b' tanks and have had NO issues other than a cracked plastic cap leak...resolved by going to the silicone caps. If that hollow tube is imperfect, allowing airflow beyond design spec, its gonna go gusher every time.
Oh and the "line up the airflow" has nothing to do with leakage, and as far as I can tell, it affects the draw almost zilch. You'll get more 'draw' by yanking the inner filter in the mouthpiece than not lining things up. That was a solution for draw problems on the old 'a' tanks, but on the "b" no matter how the mouthpiece sits, the draw seems just fine.
