type b atty is cylindrical and the tanks are almost twice the size. the difference should be quite apparent 
if they are all cone shapes, they sent you all type a's (or visa versa) perhaps they sent you LR instead? check on the underside by the atty threading there should be a tiny LR stamped there if they are LR

Diameter is the same, length is the same. The battery connector is the same. Type A is cone shaped, type B is cylinder shaped so they use different cartridges. Type B cartridge has larger volume. Just take a look at the pictures on any site selling eGo.
