Ego-T (Type B) Tastes Like Plastic--Is This Normal?

Last week, I received my Joye Ego-T (Type B) kit, with 900Mah batteries. Previously, for the last year, I've been vaping by direct drip with eGo batteries, regular 510 atty's, and Super-T stainless steel drip tip.

Although I always liked the flavor I get from direct dripping, I was looking forward to the convenience offered by the tank system. When I got my new kit, I blew out all the primer as instructed, filled the tank, and went to town. I found that the tank system has a pronounced plastic flavor. I thought it might go away after a bit of time, but the yucky taste remained after a whole day of vaping.

The first juice I used was Halo Freedom juice, then I tried a new tank with a new juice: TV Butter Rum with 20% VG. Still, it has that gross plastic taste. And no, it's not that the atty is getting insufficient juice, there's no burning taste or anything, it's simply a gross taste associated with the vapor produced by my tanks.

I have since switched back to my trusty drip tip, which has clean and pure taste, albeit a bit of a hassle when driving. Maybe the good reviews on the tank system are coming from folks used to cartridges and cartos, who haven't been "spoiled" by the fresh clean flavor from direct dripping? I don't know.

Do other folks have my take on the flavor from the Ego tanks, or am I doing something wrong?

Yes, I find a little plastic taste associated with the eGo tanks also. But, to me, the cotton taste, or whatever, you get with carts and cartomizers, is much worse. So to me it's a minor thing.

Dripping is just WAY too much trouble for me, so I don't do it very often.

When I first started vaping, I used cartridges, then cartos. When I tried dripping, I was absolutely blown away at how clean and pure the flavor is. I agree that dripping can be a major hassle, though less so when using a widemouth drip tip, but the flavor has ruined me for anything having a less-than-pure taste.

I guess this is analogous to coffee. At one time, I was happy with Folgers or Maxwell House, but then I started drinking Starbucks and other gourmet coffees. Now the old pre-ground Folgers and Maxwell House-type coffees taste like used dishwater to me. Likewise, I have become accustomed to the great flavor from dripping, so I simply cannot tolerate any weird aftertaste. Oh well!

Could be the last remnants of primer tainting your liquid, if they're new attys.
I rinse new 1s out now and give em a dip in the ultrasonic bath just for good measure (seeing as it's just sat there otherwise :) ) and a quick dry burn to make sure there's no primer in them.

I've seen a few posts by people with the hard cap version tanks talking about popping the cap off and trimming off the little bit of plastic that is pushed though by the spike to improve the flavor.

Tanks do give out a drier vapor and a different flavour to dripping, it's got to be said. I find the sweeter flavours don't come though so well with the tank and use a mega dual coil carto for them, myself (being too lazy to drip etc).

I've never noticed a bad taste after clearing out the primer. However, I've never dripped, so I have no comparison to make like you do. I do make it a habit to remove the little round hanging chad from the tank before putting it into use. I guess it would be possible to taste that chad if your taste-buds are sensitive enough, but they can also effect wicking.

This. Make sure all the primer fluid is out. Then make sure you pull the little tab off the tank cap once the hole is punctured.

Same issue here. I ditched the tanks because of muted flavor, little TH, no lung hit, and too much "fiddling" around to get the silly thing to work properly. If you like cartos, but don't want the typical carto taste, try a Fluxomizer from Gotvapes. It's basically a tank with wicks that hang down inside. You'll have to do a 1 minute "seal mod" to get the most out of it, but after that you just inject your juice and vape.

They provide a terrific lung hit, flavor is equal to dripping IMO, vapor production is astounding, and the TH is fair to boot.

I was having the same problem (the plastic taste), which is why I did a search and found this thread. I took the advice of two people above and cut the little plastic circle off (the place where the sharp part of the atty punctures the tank) and viola! Plastic taste is gone. YAY!! I was getting so frustrated. Thank you DLL9MM and Starquake!! :)
