When the eGO and Tornado first came out late last year, it wasn't too much of a hassle referring the model as the 'eGO/Tornado' (or TorneGO I saw once). However, for some time now, there have been several different models (e.g., Riva, Hello 016) using wide, high-mAh batteries. And recently, there have been models for the Kr8 cartomizer and/or 901 atomizer: CigEasy's Elegant, VaporNine's Defender, EastMall's Riva-901.

To me, "eGO-type" is not cutting it. This is a category of models (like penstyle, mini, and super-mini, and mod) that needs a real name. [For example, mods are not called 'Screwdriver-like' or 'NicoStick-like'.]

I have proposed "Fat Batts" for the obvious reason. ViZi calls them "Custom" mods on his site. [In the context of his website on mods, that name makes sense, but these are not battery mods (i.e., housings for generic batteries).]

I'd love to see a discussion about this and hope that our community can reach a consensus on a meaningful category name. You've seen the name I propose. What are your ideas?

I think "the id zone" would work well..

My thinking is that the eGo/Riva/Hello 016 type are most people's first step away from their training wheels, a point at which they may stay, or may progress to battery mods, feeder mods, VV mods, etc.

For this reason, I'd suggest pre-mod.
Likely I'm an exception to the rule. But, I bought a true mod, the Carlos Juice Box, before I got my first PV in the genre being discussed. It never seemed to work right and I gave up on it within a couple of weeks. Much happier with this pre-mod I'm using now. :) The Juice Box is among the five gathering dust in my sig line.

Who doesn't know what a Conehead is.

I vote Conehead.

It doesn't matter if you use them or not, it does identify the style quite nicely and you get to chuckle, too
Yep, yep, yep, old SNL Coneheads. But, even though I have two of the eGo cones, I don't use them even when I'm using a 510 atty ... and, I normally use the cylinder atomizer. It's hard to call it a conehead when there's nothing conical about it.

The cones are an accessory, not integral. Like a lanyard. IMHO. I know some disagree.

Not much consensus yet, is there? We've got a strong conehead contingent and an anti-cone group. Only one vote for my "Fat Batts.":(

Jumbo Batts. Or JumbAH-LOL! I don't think cone style works since it's just a cover that is a cone and not the batts themselves. You know? I like JumbAH but that's just me. ;)
My favorite so far, although I wouldn't capitalize the 'h': The JumbAh category of e-cig models. And sacrificing the 'm' in 'mAh' is no big deal: some of them are at least one full amp hour.

And if they ever add in juice feeders, we could call that group: JumbAhlayas.:D

All this is way more complicated then it should be. Tell me - how's a noobee gonna know anything about what we are talking about? We need to keep this simple. Many have forgoten what being a novice is all about. Call it whatever you want but keep in mind - no one but season veterans will know what it is we're talking about.

All this is way more complicated then it should be. Tell me - how's a noobee gonna know anything about what we are talking about? People?? - We need to keep this simple! You vets have forgot what being a novice is all about. You guys can call it whatever you want but keep in mind - no one but season veterans will know what it is we're talking about.

That, for me, was also true of PV, juice mod, TH, bottom feeder, LR atty, drip tip, DIY, etc...the thing is already awash in jargon; there's no going back now.

I am a GUY from L.A. not girl. lol
Agreed. I see nothing wrong w/ calling it an "egoriva" type device. But anymore artistic/poetic classifacation is just more conffusion then there needs to be.

So I guess my vote will be egoriva, and not rivaego, for the simple reason that the riva is a knock off and I just don't have one.

And again. If people start calling it conehead or cone anything I am gonna start the anti conehead Social Group. Just saying, mine is cone free, as all good egos should be. lol

besides the overall metal look of the device... they remind me more of a cigar in the way they feel in the hand...
so I'd almost want to take one of the names from cigar naming practices... since the names are based on length and diameter anyway...

like
Hemingway
Churchill
Robusto
Generosos
Superiores

but that's just a thought.... something like Robusto could also convey the idea of higher mAh as well

I like Fat Batts, or Robusto. JumbAh as a category name would be ok too, and Don's JumbAhalaya's if they come out with a juice feeder system for them had me laughing out loud. I would like to see a poll on this. I hope cone names are not the general preference because I agree with previous posters that the cone is an accessory rather than the main component, which is the battery.

That's true, but...every PV has a battery. Only the type here looking for a name has a cone. That's the one thing that distinguishes them from every other.
