I have them both and, as a newbie, have not noticed an appreciable difference in the vapor production. I believe the Riva has a slightly higher mAh, giving it a little bit longer time on the battery. They both use 510 parts, so there's no real difference as far as that goes. The buttons on the Riva is a little more stable feeling, but I have no problem with the slightly looser feeling eGo. Some have had problems getting the Riva cone over cartomizers, but I have not had that problem, although there have been times when I had to push the carto out through the mouthpiece end with a pen if the carto does not come out perfectly straight. The Riva "manual" says it's good for 300 charges but the Ego makes no mention, so I have no idea about ultimate battery life (yet). I think the Riva is around $20 less than the eGo, if that matters to you (it did me).

After reading up for a couple weeks I ended up buying the Riva (which arrived yesterday, woot!). My reasons were a) $20 cheaper, b) rubber button (I likes rubber buttons), c) 100mAh higher capacity battery, d) at the time I only had PayPal money available and I was ordering from Eastmall who carries Rivas and not eGos.

So far it's working great. Good flavor (more flavor than my KR8), good vapor (on par with KR8 with crappy juice), and 510 parts are almost everywhere so the replacement parts cost should be virtually identical to that of an eGo.

I believe most every lithium battery is limited to somewhere around 300 recharges before rechargeability starts to degrade. I'm not an expert on batteries though, so I could easily be mistaken.
