Okay another noob question, how do I word this. The 2 wires coming from the atty go up which then the Kanthal wire wraps around the ss mesh then is wraped around those 2 wires.Which one of those 2 wires are the shorter one the + or -?Sorry for all the questions just trying to get as much info as I need to get one built.
Chopper,
Just remember you have a center contact (+) and the outer case which is (-). Solder one contact on the positive and the other on the negative - those each run to either the positive the positive and negative posts
Your kanthal attaches to the negative post, wraps around the mesh, the attaches to the positive post. That completes the circuit.
Which one is short or long or if they are relatively even is up to you. Since most of us run a vertical coil on genesis, it is more convenient to have one short post and one long - the power will flow no matter which is + or -. I think most make the short post negative because they use the case as ground, but it would work either way. Sometimes it comes down to - "opps, screwed that up... well, I'll make that the negative post then."
Hope that helps.
