eGoXL and Drip Tip, FTW!

Just thought I'd make some comments on the eGoXL and contour drip-tip from Super-T.

This is the platinum color eGo 900maH battery and cone, with a copper anodized aluminum drip-tip. I wasn't sure whether the copper would look good with the platinum, and I think black looks better. Of course chrome would go well with the chrome band around the battery too.

I'm getting about 12 hours of vape time on the XL. For me, that's great, as it lasts me all day at work, and then some. Given a std. 510 batt lasts me 2 hours, this is a bit more than I was expecting, and it's a real improvement.

For anyone thinking maybe the eGo is a bit too large, you can see that it really isn't that big. With the tip, it's 5 1/4 inches overall. The battery is 9/16 diameter. I guess I have average size hands, so that gives you some notion of scale.

The aluminum drip tip is more comfortable in the mouth than the delrin, mainly because it's more smooth. It also gets warm. So, it's conducting a bit of heat from the atomizer, but I don't notice any difference in vapor production. A plus here it that since it's a bit warm, there will be less condensation of vapor, and less possibility for juice in the mouth. I typically don't have any juice-in-mouth trouble with the delrin tip either, but it does happen, though rarely. The warm mouthpiece might be nice in winter.

Just my 2 cents, but I think this is a great combo.

Is this the drip tip I can use on the EGO (xl or mega) Atomizer? I could not find any info about the EGO drip tips on their site.

VERY nice! I've been using my 501 a few weeks now and I want an Ego or something similar like the Riva. Is there a reason you chose your Ego? I noticed they are selling them with 650mAh and 750mAh, as well. Are these questions ok or should I start a new thread elsewhere? I really appreciate your advice, thanks!

I'll pass. Proprietary batteries have been a waste of money for me.

Sure the ego xl works good and looks nice but mine crapped out after two weeks. It lights up but no vapor.

I chose the eGo for 2 reasons; battery life and 510 compatibility. The eGoXL battery is 900mah, and I get 10-12 hours on it. I already had 510 stuff, so it was the shortest path to longer battery life, without buying something like a BB or other large battery holder. Granted, once you have a BB, GG, SB, Chuck, etc., all of which you can get with 510 threads, and a charger, you'll spend less money on batteries in the long run. You'll also have a 3.7V (or higher) device -- the eGo doesn't deliver 3.7V. For me, I'm happy with the vape I get from the 510/eGo voltage, so no hurry on my end for a higher voltage device. Yeah, with 3 eGoXL batts now, and the cone, and 2 chargers (I believe in having spares for everything), I've spent more than I would have on a 3.7V mod. That's without the charger, because I wouldn't use one of the cheapo ones. Lots of people use those without trouble, but I'm pretty conservative in that area, and I prefer to buy higher quality. Also, buying my initial eGo setup (1 batt, cone, charger) was partly in the vein of "I've got to get something because std. 510 batts are driving me nuts!" -- while I considered the options. Since I'm still mentally puttering over building my own battery mod, I just bought spare eGo stuff.

The eGoXL, at 900mah, will last some people all day or longer. In general, multiply the time a std. 510 batt lasts by 5, and that'll be what you can expect from the 900mah eGoXL. I also like the size -- after using it for several weeks now, the 510 feels too tiny, but it still isn't huge like a Saber Touch or similar. I kind of think that even if I do build a mod, I'll still use the eGo when I'm out and about. The other thing is that I haven't seen a mod that uses the eGo cone. Probably, there is one. But I do like the increased airflow resistance with the cone. It just feels more smooth.

Of course, everyone has their favorite vendor. For eGo, I recommend Wordup E-cig. I've talked to Jeffrey on the phone, and he is fanatic about customer satisfaction.

I doubt I'll ever have that much vaping hardware around. I'm pretty much a 'find what works and stick with it' guy. I am going to experiment with a DIY batt mod, but other than that, I'm happy with the eGo.

Not sure if you have tried cartomizers on your yours but the ones I picked up from the house of Vapor rock. I use them while driving since dripping can get pretty tough in traffic.

AFAIK, that is a Titanium color. My mega batt came in that color, and I also bought a cone and a eGo mega cyl atty in titanium. Same color as yours.

Thanks. I'm kinda pondering cartomizers, but I have pile of 510 carts, and I don't often drive where I can't drip while waiting at a stop light. With winter coming on, I do need to come up with a plan for that, because dripping in the dark sitting at a stop light doesn't work too well for me. I actually have some full 510 carts I think I ought to just vape dry. I don't think the juice is stale, but don't want to take chances on that.

at $1.99 each its a pretty good compromize. I started with two empties on monday. filled each with juice (one halo smooth 8 other Nic Nirvana Tiramisu). Have refilled each 5X. Smooth8 cartomizer seems to be crapping out other is going strong. Ordered 5 more so I can do a more scientific comparison (cart vs. atty costs). Out of the pack and freshly filled they produced clouds of vapor. I am leaning towards the atty/drip being cheaper since I get two weeks off an atty. But these cartomizers do allow you to keep your eyes o the road. Also since this will be my first winter vaping I do not foresee much success driping while skiing so I will sock up on carts for that too.

You get only 2 weeks on an atty? I get 2 months at least. I'm going to start date coding them, but I my initial 2 lasted at least 3 months -- or more, because I'm still vaping one which might have been in my initial order. Yeah, I don't know that for sure, but I am sure about the ones I started with going 3 months. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I've had 2 atties die. One because I killed it in an experiment, the other was purchased a couple weeks after I started vaping. So yes, I have one atty I've been using since mid-April.

maybe a total juice ml to atty death comaprision is in order or total battery recharges to atty death. Tough to figure atty life since everyones use varies. I pretty much breath through mine and have been using >20 ml/week. It would be nice if someone could build a 'Super Atty' I like the date code idea and will try that. I have been vaping since late July, started like most here with cartomizers on auto batteries, moved to 510 in late august, picked up Ego two weeks ago. I have been through three attys, one was defective (lasted 10 mins) other two just produced low vape after two weeks(even after alcohol purge). I am hoping the fresh one I put i today will go the distance like yours. BTW I am using authentic Joye atty's.

Sorry LowThud no jinx intended. How long did it last? I figure if I burn up atty's it gives me another reason to shop online for parts at work. I am not happy unless I am pissing away $100 - $200 a week on one vice or another anyway. I am hopeful you have another atty handy, if not I just bought ten from the house of vapor and they showed up today

BTW, I vape appx 3ml/day. I don't actually keep close track, but I typically have 2 3ml bottles I'm using, and haven't had to refill both more than half. Could be I'm using a bit less than that. Also likely varies day-to-day. Just from reading around the forum, 2-3ml / day seems common.
